    thank you nuttymummy!
Pastel colours will be fine. I'll have a look on a few cake supply websites. I've always wanted to try and make my own cakes, so I'm giving it a go, but starting as small as I can!
Think my hubby is looking forward to being a guinea pig!

What great cakes Annie...don't know which ones I like the best....love the little buttons and the pearls with the quilted design and the page out of notebook design is great. I was up until the early hours making/decorating the grandchildren's end of year cupcakes for teachers/helpers....was n't sure at first about the red velvet ones, as I was making them I thought I could not fancy eating those...but once they were cooled and decorated I was quite impressed with how they looked........and they were nice with the grated red velvet on top.

Thank you cherydee. Have you got a photo of your red velvet ones? I bet they're lovely

Deltadawn, it's just practice really. I bet you're better than you think. I always think my cakes don't look as nice as other people do :o

The white frosting is cream cheese, and the recipe is here

No unfortunately I have n't, I was quite stressed out as has the grandkids all day then started the baking after we had tea and did not get to bed until nearly 4am....I do keep volunteering myself for these things !!! so taking photo's was the last thing on my mind :)
They looked quite nice, as I did buy those fancy cupcake boxes off Ebay to show them off in.

I am making my first giant cupcake for Louie on Monday...so if any good I will take a photo.

Here's my first attempt at two tone icing, I think it came out really well! The icing was abit runny though, I don't like buttercream so I found a recipe for icing using cream cheese, I don't know what I did wrong but it came out really runny....? I also made one with coffee and baileys, turned out to be a good sauce for ice cream instead!

I'm growing edible flowers on my mums allotment atm so I'm going to have a go at making crystalised flowers to use as decoration, will post some pics when i have.

AnnieH - I really like the pattern you did on your cupcake, how is it done?

They look lovely! Cream cheese icing can be runny if you overwork it. You should beat it just enough to mix it together.

Thanks, do you mean the patterns on the pretty cupcakes? The swirl pattern is an embossing rolling pin from eBay, and the quilted look was made by a fondant wheel, also from eBay.

    Thank you :o
The white decorations are buttons, made from a silicone mould. The apple I just made a ball of red icing, with a dent in the top, and a little stick of brown, and a teeny leaf shape.
