Just saw this stand on Ebay - not seen the larger ones this cheap.
PS - all your cakes are so fab. I'm nowhere near your league - but subscribe so I can ooh & aah at the beautiful creations :D

What a great idea to write the colour on the lid of the food colour pots! I'm so going to do that.
    :)

:jIt's so helpful when you're scrabbling around cursing the fondant & running out of time to find the colour you need. Hope it helps. :D

Can i ask you wonderful people where you get your cake boxes from? Im after cheap cupcake boxes as i have been purchasing them from my local cake shop at £1.20 per box - im sure i will be able to get them somewhere cheaper. I would like a range of different sizes though.
    Thanks

Just had a look through your blog a very interesting read can I ask what is sablised vanilla cream with the angel delight?

    Thanks

Thanks for checking out the blog. :D

I used to hate buttercream so found a way to thicken whipped cream in order to use it as a filling in cakes and pipe it onto cupcakes. It’s a bit of made up recipe so you just have to taste as you go along. I use Elmlea double cream as it lasts longer and tends to thicken better than fresh double cream (although you can use fresh if you prefer, just bear in mind it won’t last as long as elmlea or buttercream)

Put the double cream in your mixer bowl, add a large pinch of cream of tartar, about 1/3 of a packet of vanilla angel delight per large carton of cream (roughly 285ml) & icing sugar to taste. Whip using the whisk attachment of the mixer until stiff peaks form. These are only estimates; sometimes I add more angel delight or more icing sugar, just taste as you go along. Sometimes I add a splash of vanilla extract if I want a stronger vanilla taste. If you are using it as a cake filling it doesn’t harden as nicely as buttercream does so make sure to refrigerate the cake before covering and be careful when covering with fondant as the cakes can slide a little if there is too much cream filling.

I'd love to hear of other suppliers too, I use
http://www.cakescookiesandcraftsshop.co.uk/acatalog/Cookie-and_Cake-Boxes.html who I love as they're always so quick to deliver and I've never had problems with them but I'm sure there are cheaper suppliers out there.

I used to get a lot on ebay but most of the sellers I used no longer sell cake boxes so I stopped using ebay. Now I split my puchasing between CCC and supermarkets. Sainsburys had a nice range of cupcake boxes in their baking section, I stocked up on some of their boxes that held 4 cupcakes, they came in a 2 pack for less than £2 if I remember correctly.

I get my boxes from a range of sources, cupcake ones from here - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230627271015&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT

I think it was Annie who put up a link to another site, http://www.cake-stuff.com/ I have bought a LOT from this site, I've boght the big boxes and cupcake boxes from here before. The only downside is that the P&P is slightly high so I tend to buy quite a lot in one go and have it all delivered at once.

Other places I have bookmarks for but haven't tried yet so can't remark on whether they are good or not -

I get most of my stuff from eBay, or https://www.craftcompany.co.uk as they're cheaper than most other cake supply shops.

In two minds whether to post this :o... but my first attempt at ever decorating a cake, not the effect I was after... so hoping I'll improve. I'll not win any prizes with this one, but a 4 yr old was happy enough :) ( In case anyone's thinking, did he not have his birthday a few weeks back... he had a joint birthday party with his cousin for all their nursery class, so it was decided to have it 3 weeks after Isla's and 3 weeks before Louie's)

Got to do it all over again mid August for grandaughter... so lets hope next one is significantly better !

PS Open to any suggestions...I think, I maybe added a dash more milk to the buttercream than was needed
