    legendmum- Love the mario cake!

awesome2- The valentines cake at the top? I did a marble cake, chocolate and vanilla, and I put white chocolate ganache in the middle and all over the outside :-)

The Mario cake is super cute legendmum! if you arent so happy with your icing, and you have got til july to practice, why dont you try and get hold of a grass icing tip. i bought one couple of weeks ago and its really effective. have a look at these, this was when i was playing around with it, really easy to use and only a couple of quid

then maybe you could ask moosetastic where she got her chequered flags on her cars cake. sure it will be fab, good luck :)

Thanks awesome2. yes i used a stencil, one of the freebies from the cake decorating magazine. i rolled the icing then pushed stencil on so icing comes up through the pattern then without taking off rubbed tiny bit of trex over it and painted with lustre dust. then i take the stencil off and cut circle round it. sure there is probably easier and more professional way of doing it but it works for me!

these are the cakes i made for my sons 18th, he wanted a lego star wars cake but he wanted so many figures on it it ended up becoming a little crowded.

  • Legendmum: Nice cake. Well done! Is Mario made of gum paste?

Monkeymagic: Beautiful cupcakes! :) I'm so jealous of your stencil. My magazine haven't arrived yet. Was Issue 6 the last one in their mag? Do you know? I'm fed up off them cos I always received mine a couple of weeks late. Not impressive at all! :(
  • Ages ago, there were ladies here who were talking about Kenwood Prospero. They said it's really nice and worth every penny. So instead of getting Kitchenaid which is a lot expensive than Kenwood, I bought Kenwood Prospero instead. I love it! Thank you to the lovely ladies who recommended it. You know who you are! Happy Baking!!! x
