I popped into Aldi yesterday and picked up the orange sunflower baking pan (about 12" diameter) for £1.99 (reduced from £3.49). My reasoning being if the cake looks pretty, I won't be inclined to ice it, ergo a healthy cake. Can't wait to get baking but will wait until next weekend - otherwise am guaranteed to demolish the lot without assistance. Orange and almond sponge I think

oooh liking those moulds VfM4meplse, the sandcastle one especially. May have to go and investigate!
Quick question - does anyone use / have used metallic/foil cases? Ive never used them, but thinking about it for a order I have to do next week. Are they good to bake in? The one and only time I have deviated from using plain or plainish cases, I bought some expensive heavy quality blue and white spotty cases, they peeled away from the buns and looked rubbish! Would any of you recommend them, or can you bake in the normal cases and then place them inside afterwards? You're so very special, I wish I was special :dance:0 -
Wow Nat loving your cake so so professional
don't believe you the camera always shows up every imperfection you are way too hard on yourself:(
Moosetastic I try to use metallic/foil muffin/bun cases they are so much better. The end results are much much better it's definitely worth the few extra pennies. It's really disappointing when the paper cases let you down:( I've had some nightmares using them even expensive ones as you said:( Foil cases have a paper lining so you bake the cakes in them no problems at all:)The secret of Christmas

Just recently found this thread and love it! Thanks to everyone who posts....what a fabulously talented lot you are
I got some really lovely "British themed" paper muffin cases from Waitrose yesterday (£1.50 for 75pk). Each pack comes with 3 different designs - blue with white dots, red & white gingham check and also white ones with cute little red, white & blue 'Jubilee' designs (red buses, Union Jack flags/heart shapes, crowns and Beefeater style guards).
They also have smaller fairy cake sized ones (£1.25 for 75pk) with different designs (comes with plain red, plain blue & also red, white & blue designs but different patterns to the muffin ones) but I thought the muffin ones were nicer.
Waitrose don't have the product images on their website yet and I can't post a pic but if you're near a store I'd say they're definitely worth a look!0
