I used this one whittysmum. It was delicious! First time I'd tried it. I also added some melted galaxy chocolate into my buttercream! Which was equally delicious!

ooh thats handy, just logged on to ask about chocolate cake. made the one nat82 just linked to yesterday as a test for cake i am doing next week. it is lovely, though very rich I thought. my only problem was that it was quite crumbly and i need to carve it a bit when i make it for real. has anyone tried freezing this one? when i tried to cut the crust off the top yesterday, it literally fell apart which frankly was a tragic waste of good cake :D. cant keep making testers cos i am going to be as big as a house :rotfl:
:wall:Trying to get a grip

  • Hi all!

I need help please? Anyone here have got a moist victoria sponge recipe? My friend complaint that my recipe which I baked for her as a sample was a bit dry. Another thing, the other day someone was talking about a sugar syrup to brush on a cake to make it moist but forgot who and can't find it that part of the thread. :( How do I make sugar syrup please? How much will I brush on an 8" cake?

Many thanks in advance! Have a nice day everyone! x

    Try
    225g self raising flour
    225g sugar
    225g butter
    2 teaspoons baking powder
    4 eggs
    1-2 teaspoons vanilla extract

That's the recipe I used for ds birthday cake and it was lovely and moist

Sugar syrup I think is just made from sugar melted into hot water, but someone else will be able to tell you properly :)
