Still a daily browser to this thread!! finally got my wilton cupcake decorating set yesterday on offer in hobbycraft. Had my first attempt this afty and all in all not too bad though not up to anyone on here's standard!! I used "I can't believe its not butter" and icing sugar for the piping and coloured it - I think because the spread is sooo yellow it took loads of colouring to get it to a decent shade by which time the icing had gone a bit "wet" if that makes sense - not runny though. Can I pick your brains please and ask what mixture you use?? seem to remember reading something about white trex along the thread. On the plus side I have till July to try and master the icing before my 5 year olds birthday!!;)0

Hi Bobbis mummy,
I always use butter for butter icing and I use paste colours rather than liquid colouring. As they're paste they don't water down the mix but the colour is also much more concentrated so a little goes a very long way!0 -
bobbis mum - is this the one you bought ?

Hello everyone, hope you are all well!
I've been doing lots of baking lately and I'm planning on making my parents a cake for their 25th Wedding Anniversary. I'm thinking of doing a square cake but no idea where to start really
I want to have some silver on it and Congratulations etc...
Was thinking of having some royal blue on it as that was their colour when they were married. Any ideas? I'm a complete beginner at decorating cakes. I have been getting the cake decorating magazine so have a few bits from that eg. ball tool etc so could attempt at making some sugar flowers? How difficult is it?
Should I be regretting this?!
Thank you0
