Nanamia, lovely cake, that colour blue is just stunning!

Nannyto9, glad you had some success at the craft fair!

shegirl, cant wait to see this cake, sounds amazing :)

Its crazy where you get cake orders from. me and my sis went for our hair cut on saturday, and our hairdresser was saying how much she liked my sis cake (the one with the giraffe). The woman in the opposite chair said "Do you do cake?" I said, yes, but not professionally. She said that she had tried lots of different people on facebook but none had got back to her, so Im now doing a giant cupcake and 20 cupcakes for her daughters 1st birthday at the end of May!! Spooky huh?? lol
You're so very special, I wish I was special

This sooo isn't going to look as good as it should've!Can't get the icing past grey so it ain't going to look how I wanted :( But still,it'll still be a space invaders cake but I need to be careful and not go ott with kneading and adding colour as the bottom cake is looking a little dull lol

Hiya Rippedof3 do you mean a cake that you can carve into shapes or one to keep in the back and slice to be eaten as well as the main cake?
Think I'm confusing myself here! Hope you know what I mean:)

To everybody whose been so kind about my photos thank you very much. I was worried about showing them cos yours all look so professional! But the feedback is good so thanks again.

Re getting orders I did one last year for a christening and the child's daddy dropped the cake box and I was rushed back to do a repair job while the service was on:( I was gutted however got two orders on the day and three since from people I met there that had tasted it. Can you believe that? Weird:)

Sending calming patient vibes to Shegirl for tonight but do try n get some sleep. And a work of caution if you use black colouring what goes in black comes out black!!! To my sons horror. Ha. X

I used the HD sponge recipe that is on the British sugarcraft website forum. I've only used it twice as only done 2 cakes but it was really nice.

I use Madeira and have had good results. I find Madeira is much tastier after a few day and always use sugar syrup. I bake on Tuesday or Wednesday for a cake due out on saturday. Wrap it in cling film when cooled. Crumb coat Thursday , fondant Friday.

    My recipe 8inch round tin
    8oz sr flour
    4oz p flour
    8oz caster sugar
    8oz lurpak
    4 lge eggs
150 oven for about an hour. Also freezes really well!

Pics will be up tomorrow,be aware that I'm far from professional in my cake decorating...I can make a cake or anything else brilliantly but I don't decorate often (apart from fairy cakes, cupcakes and biscuits)so it won't be on par with you lot :)

I'm shattered!Got the icing on,just need to finish the decoration, which I'll be up doing around 4am now!! (last year I got up at 4am to make and decorate the cake I was that short of time, then cooked everything else that morning while now ex stayed soundo in bed, apart from when I woke him for breakfast in bed and to open pressies with ds then he went back to sleep again until half 11:eek::mad:)

Just about to have some tea, watch true blood and hopefully head to bed for a few hours :)
