You are all really too kind. But I do enjoy it:) I've put a few more cakes I've found on the lap top if anybody wants a peep. Got the photos scattered about its a good idea to have them in one place. Thank you.

The vanilla slices were yummy, fruit kebabs too were a party for my MILs 70th birthday. We arranged a surprise party for her at her house with all the children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren all popping in throughout the day:) she loved it -she didn't want a fuss but loved it in her own house.

As for the vanilla slice recipe I cheated - bought a powdered kit from eBay (so delicious) if you fancy it try searching for "custard mix" and scroll down the seller is the--bakery and I used frozen all butter puff pastry (go on shoot me)

Nothing wrong with a bit of cheating:D Don't blame you with the puff pastry, mine can be decent but it can also be awfully flat:o:rotfl:

Well, got all the cakes for the tiered cake done today, along with all the biscuits and the 3 coloured loaves of bread.Thankfully,ds loves cooking so wanted to helpwith the bread and had great fun:) He thought it was brilliant! So I ended up making him some toffee muffins and then some proper home made custard (he wants his muffins in custard lol) for being so helpful!

Just the decorating, pacman bits and the savoury food to sort now :) Fingers crossed I get my delivery or I shall be sulking like a child ;)

I can and do make it but when I tried that all butter one (smells yucky when it's baking tho) I thought whoo :) I love it for palmiers too (always have them frozen and ready to bake very quick treat- doddle but look impressive! (bit too many secrets coming out tonight !)

I'm oping to have a go with my new Wilton 1M this week. I'll be popping in for advise if that's ok:)

Nat as always you are just too lovely. X

Sounds good so I'll have to try it.Pastry has never been my strong point lol

Have to say, after years of using nothing but wooden spoons and occasionally handwhisks-rfusing to ever buy an appliance that does something I can do myself,I finally caved in and bought a mixer a few weeks back and I'm so glad I did.Certainly made all this cooking easier -leaving it mixing while I do something else.:)

Although, that said,it's had it's bad moments...well, I did really-made a strawberry gateau the other week and silly me left the cream whipping in the mixer while I went loo:o:rotfl: Obviously, there was only one use for the 4 pints of cream once it had curdled LOL but I didn't have to buy any extra butter for the cooking today:D

I had to keep it perfect looking, was my pride and joy in my kitchen!!

    Oh no! What happened?

The annoying thing is I thought I was buying full fat as the recipe specified it I double checked! I got 2 packs from Lidl and as it didn't say light on the label I thought it must be full fat. Twas only when I got home and had used one pack that I noticed the second pack said 'light' Grrrr! Must pay more attention lol

Still, it tastes OK and they look nice so never mind!

It doesn't firm up so rather soft cheesecake! Still like yours it tasted ok.lol.
