So those who have got the 'cake decoratig' magazine... Would you recommend it?

I can't find issue 1 in the shops so I would need to subscribe. Worth the money?

    Thanks.

I couldn't get it either so I subscribed! You can browse the magazine online and I think it looks worth it.

You've probably already seen it, but heres the link incase you haven't!

I've subscribed, but only a couple of days ago, so haven't got it yet. If I don't like it, I will just cancel, as you can, at any time.

For those of you that use Sugarflair colours - would I be better using peach or paprika for getting a flesh colour for models? Thanks!

I use paprika Nat get more range of skin tones with that I think. Is hubby's cake made yet? Bin thinking about you today it's exciting hope you are enjoying it :-)
I've now caught up completely on "part one" of this thread. Wow so many talented people out there. Some still posting and some newbies too. I get the feeling that part two is friendlier and less competitive :-) (IMHO)
Ive hard a trip to the seaside this week and my DH made a slight detour through St Anne's near Blackpool so I could call into Party Animal store. I've seen it many times online and only just realised where is it! It's a proper Aladins cave for cake decorators :-) Although you don't get the tips etc that I get from my local store who are never too busy to help and share their knowledge. But it was good to have a look.
    Happy baking

Wow all the cupcakes look fab and sooooo yummy:-)

Mamamoi - I used Tappits for the letters. Added some Tylo to sugarpaste and rolled out really thinly. I bought the letter stencils from E-bay.

Thanks Nat... I have been looking around and have ordered some things incl the tappits, although it is too late for this cake. I had a crazy busy day at work today and then had to come home to quickly decorate my mum's cake... with 2 kids at my heels, should have given myself more time, but things never work like that in my life!!!! I experimented with a whole range of nozzles, and consitency of buttercream and even melted chocolate but it all looked awful, so what was going to be 'happy 70th birthday mum' ended up as just 'MUM' lol.... although I did use candles spelling out happy birthday and 70. I was still quite pleased though as it ended up looking pretty good (certainly not professional, but at least homemade and made with love :) Quite looking forward to getting the tappits and cutters I've ordered for the next cake though!

My first attempt at decorating cupcakes. I have made some for my mum's birthday and a cake for my nephew's 18th and will post photos tomorrow. Not too sure about the cake but I am doing a decorating class on 10th April and can't wait

I love looking at everyone's cakes, they are all so individual. Britbok and Bidiboo, they are just lovely. I am doing more cupcakes later today (if I feel better, feel a bit yukky at the mo) and I will be taking them to work for my colleagues. What they don't know, is I am going to ask them for a donation to put in the Cancer Research UK charity box I have. (I am team captain for Relay for Life). I am such a cheeky mare:shocked:, but I'm sure they won't mind lol. Will post pics later
