I'd like to jump onto the "making cupcakes" wagon!! having lurked on here for a while notice everyone talks about a wilton 1m nozzle, can I ask will these fit on an icing syringe or do they have to be used with icing bags?? If they will fit on syringe can anyone please point me in direction of which one. Many thanks in advance0

Oooh Kevin I love those. You seem to be such a darling baking for your MIL :-) I love the different flavours you use too. Yum.
Bobbis mummy I don't think they fit on the syringe but don't take my word for it cos I've not bought them yet! I've been looking at them on eBay this morning £7 ish for the two 1M and 2D plus p&p gonna ring my local shop shortly c if they've got them cos as usual for me 'I want them NOW'The secret of Christmas

Thanks for that, just thought I might get on better with a syringe than a bag!!0 -
what are you using in your buttercream? are you using butter or margarine? I use 50/50 lurpak and trek
Bindiboo - i only use stork - im guessing this isnt such a good idea!? i read somewhere to use trex so i tried just trex but it was awful. I havent used lurpack mainly as its so expensive:o (being tight aswell).
:A ( my 4 year old is sat at the side of me and wanted to do him this face lol)
ThanksI have 2 gorgeous kids0 -
Bobbismummy I think you'll find the disposable bags easier than the syringe to use. U will soon get the hang of it :-)
Cotton wool Katie we are all learning everyday but I don't think yours look like its ur first attempt! They look yummy to me I could just try one :-)
I just use Lurpak but am working on trying half trex- it's just the idea puts me off.
Can't help x_yummy_x I've not tried it yet but will be watching for tips:-)The secret of Christmas

Now this is a secret - so please don't tell on mebut I use half and half butter and trex - just ordinary salted butter - smartprice unless a branded one is on special cheaper.
Nobody has ever tasted the salt.0 -
Hi!
Everyones cupcakes look really good, I love the different toned icing!
I haven't posted any pictures for ages, I will get round to it at some point!
Just wanted to ask you a question, I'm making my boyfriend a birthday cake tomorrow, I keep seeing that plain yogurt makes the cake more moist, but I have no idea how much to put in!
I'm doing a 8 oz cake mixture, does anyone know how much yogurt I should put in?
Thankyou!
I use a recipe which has greek yogurt in the ingredients but I have never added yogurt to another mix if that makes sense. The recipe I use and love is the BBC Good Food easy vanilla cake recipe.0 -

I have a pressing question which is bugging the life out of me - how do you colour your buttercream without it curdling or seperating. I have used supermarket food colouring and the food colouring paste but my buttercream goes nasty.
Marg (Stork) seperates when it gets hot and starts to melt (which can happen quite quickly when you have your hand around a plastic piping bag)
