I use stork (or the supermarket's own version of stork) and have never had a problem with it seperating or anything. i tend to make it up while the cakes are baking then refrigerate it for a while as it tends to get quite warm and soft from being mixed (i do it in my kenwood chef and beat it for quite a long time so its very soft, light and fluffy).
There are 2 types of stork - block and tub. Which do you use? I imagine block works better than tub as it is less likely to separate.0 -

I know where you're coming from Nat, I'm like you that's why I had a hard time thinking of inspiration for my hubbys birthday cake but finally made it and made a big laugh from him. :j(knowing his humour worked a treat!)

Right, here is the hubby's cake. It wasn't what was planned, but, thanks to Nanamia for saving the day with her suggestions and support from afar, I think I managed to pull it off! Thanks to everyone else too, you're a supper bunch!
