    Love your figure Bindiboo:-)

Right Nat I've googled the cake examples and see what you mean. I wouldn't recommend using the dummy now I've seen the huddle. You can definitely do this it's nowhere near as daunting as you think. Make, buttercream and fondant a Madeira ( or similar) then you've got three days to complete the figures. There are no real face to do so they are pretty similar football strip etc just a change of colouring (skin and hair) You can do this? When is DH birthday? Wish I was near enough to help :-)

I've every faith think you are gonna surprise yourself.

    Hi all,

Thanks for your responses on the sugarpaste... Red Extra it is!

I do have a final question though... Does everyone here use all unsalted butter in their buttercream? Does anyone use stork?

I'm thinking of using half butter, half stork and see how it turns out? Stork is so much cheaper!

Morning Kevin I'm a lurpakaholic and couldn't bring myself to use stork however trex apparently works and that's much cheaper than butter too. I keep meaning to try it myself half lurpak half trex then you should still get the buttery flavour. Let us kno how u get on I'd be very interested (building myself up to weaning myself off lurpak)

I tried using half butter and half trex and it was really nice. The consistency was a lot better than with just butter, so I will keep using half trex plus it's a lot cheaper too.

Hi Kevin, i have used Stork in the past when there was nothing else in my fridge and tbh i wouldnt say it works well at all, it seems to be too runny and i found it looked like the colours was kinda splitting, thats the only way to describe it. I have used half butter and half trex, you wouldnt know the difference and it brings it out a lighter colour, i did ice cream cone cakes and it was fab as it made the icing look like vanilla whippy ice cream, try it im sure you will be converted if you do .

When I go home for easter next week I'd like to make something extra special for my sister and Dads birthday cakes - Unfortunately I'm away for their birthdays BUT we're having a family meal for my dad so I need to make a great cake for it! My normal go to is white chiffon cake, but I'd like to try something different. Any ideas? You guys seem to be the best to ask :)

I subscribed to that Cake Decorating magazine last year when it came out, was gutted when it was cancelled in January after only 5 issues. So glad that its coming back out again, the quality of the freebies are really good, I've started my subscription again just in case they've changed anything, can't wait for it to come now!
You're so very special, I wish I was special
