I suspect you have 3 little brats running around screaming all the time damaging cars etc which is why you have this attitude. Another parent who instead of taking responsibility for their children and theirs childrens actions blames everyone else around them. Cars shouldn't be on the road, people shouldn't walk where children play, people shouldn't have single pane glass when a ball breaks it.....the list goes on.
As for considering your parking needs when buying a house, if your fortunate enough to be able to buy a house, a property with parking may not even be within your budget. Not to mention that a lot of new properties especially those that are apparently aimed at first time buyers rarely have off street parking. If every person with a car was to buy a house with offstreet parking then over half the properties available would be empty and there would a lot of people not living in a house at all!!!
Where am I saying it's acceptable behavoir?
You are clearly the one making wild assumptions about me and that I have children and about how they would behave??? On what do you base those assumptions exactly, you narrowminded fool?0 -

Your point is moot, so because you don't have a drive it's perfectly alright for brats to damage your property and the parents not to step up, and be responsible for their spawn.
Charming individual you are.
It is relevant. The OP says his car keeps getting scratched parked on the road and asks WHAT CAN HE DO ABOUT IT?
Unfortunately not many people actually bother to read the OP's question and start bleeting about chavs and bad parents bla bla bla!
I told him or her what they can do.... SHIFT the car off the road because one thing is as sure as eggs is eggs, he won't stop them playing out.
How many of the 50 odd posts actually supply an response that brings a solution to the problem???0 -

How do you know that is an option to the OP? He presumably pays his road tax, so why should he not be able to park his car outside his house? How many of the 50 odd posts actually supply an response that brings a solution to the problem???

You never said it was acceptable, you said the OP should move his car from a public road because kids are just kids. Its like saying murders are just murders if you don't want to be killed you should move to your own island.
My comment about your kids was an assumption, the clue was at the start....I suspect not I know for sure. Those that tend to think its someone elses fault when a kid breaks or damages something by using the line kids will be kids usually don't take responsibility for their own. walk around tescos and you'll see it happening. Kids running around screaming and when they knock something off the shelf the parents rarely offer to pay for the damage its usually the shops fault for putting glass jars in their way!!!Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -
I'm confused. If they are on the path, why does your car get scratched? you're not illegally parking/driving your car on the pavement are you?Tip_Top_Tony wrote: »... all use the path to cycle on. My car keeps getting scratched...0 -

I pay my Vehicle Excise Duty but I can't park my car outside my house as there's a yellow line on it (and thankfully so, as I said cars are dreadful eyesores, they are much better kept off-road).0 -

You suspect wrong. Again you are making wild assumptions on things I never actually said. Where have I said it's the OP's fault???
Now you are also making silly comparisions that also don't provide the OP with the solution.
Read his post again. His car is continually getting scratched. The parents are not interested. At no point have I said that is OK.
I am stating facts. Kids play out - fact. They always will - fact. His car is in a public place - fact.
So he asks for a solution to prevent it happening. Clearly this has to be something within his own control. Therefore, there are three possible solutions to prevent it happening:
1) park somewhere else
2) err park somewhere else
3 errr park somewhere else
I have never said it's the op's fault. I have never said the kids should be allowed to cause any damage to property. I have never said the parents reactions are fair or reasonable.
I have told him what he needs to do to stop it happening, park on his own private property.
Now jump down off your high horse.0 -

If this was an option I suspect he would be parking there.0 -
He can. But that doesn't provide a solution does it.
Maybe not, but the solution (and only one available to the OP) lies in post #51. Anyway, I'm not going to be drawn into pointless argument. My suggestion to the OP is what I would do in his/her shoes if I had no alternative parking spot.
Thankyou and good night.PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. You should always obtain face to face professional advice before taking any action.0
