Do you know why kids think it's funny to shout out swear words?

    It's because they know it's wrong/naughty.......

I don't consider "buggar" to be a swear word, ie "you little buggar".

My nephew has been told it's a bad/naughty word, so what does he do? he uses it in the wrong context and he has fits of laughter shouting it out constantly for anything up to 15 minutes.

I've played online games on xbox/ps3 where kids are screaming swear words down into the microphone, they don't even know what these words mean!!!!!!!!!

So to summarise I think that by making things "taboo" we're actually encouraging our children to treat these words as "special" words to be used to "show off".

Oh my word! And you were doing so well till this!
So YOU decide what is and what isn't acceptable language now?
My idea of what is and isn't swearing is whether I'd say it to a nun.
Now you've really plummeted the depths with your last few posts yet you STILL have the nerve to try and justify your boorish/loutish behaviour.
I wonder if you'd been quite so vocal if the father (all 6ft 6" of him) was there?
    What a charmer

What a load of rubbish, why do think we have double yellow lines, if we weren't allowed to park every street would be lined with them for a start. Seriously wake up and get into the real world, we can't all live in your fantasy land where everything is green and rosy and everyone loves each other.
Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.

So prancing around looking like a penguin, spouting words of non-sense from a fictional story book written 2000 years ago in an entirely different language, about a man who wasn't even called "Jesus" (See Yeshua) and then rewritten to suit the needs of the law, government and monarchy of the day for the purpose of controlling the population... This somehow makes someone a special case?

Anyway, that's enough religion and politics.... Back to topic :)

There is no suggestion from the OP that the car is causing an obstruction. Car owners do have the right to park on the road. Are you supporting these children because they are on bicycles and you have an anti car agenda?. The OP also mentioned these children have ridden into his pregnant wife.

Kids are plain wierd, they constantly play football behind our house where there's an alley and garages. Down the end of the alley is a big park. Maybe they like getting shreds of ball back when it ends up in our garden (the puppy likes ballies).

They soon clear off when I start the car up though.:D

To the OP. Ketamine traquiliser darts, 'tis the only way. :rotfl:

This does not help the OP but may be of interest to others,

On 1st August 1999, new legislation came into force to allow a fixed penalty notice to be served on anyone who is guilty of cycling on a footway. However the Home Office issued guidance on how the new legislation should be applied, indicating that they should only be used where a cyclist is riding in a manner that may endanger others. The then Home Office Minister Paul Boateng issued a letter stating that:
“The introduction of the fixed penalty is not aimed at responsible cyclists who sometimes feel obliged to use the pavement out of fear of traffic and who show consideration to other pavement users when doing so. Chief police officers, who are responsible for enforcement, acknowledge that many cyclists, particularly children and young people, are afraid to cycle on the road, sensitivity and careful use of police discretion is required.”

They are kids and kids ride bikes on their street. You probably did the same.

Park your car on your own property and not the public highway! Problem solved. If you don't have that facility perhaps you chose the wrong house.

Sorry, but too many people don't consider their own parking needs properly these days and rely on the public road for parking.

Are you suggesting that because the OP parked on the road instead of somewhere where the car would be at less risk of damage from careless, irresponsible behaviour, that somehow completely absolves everybody else of the responsibility not to carelessly, irresponsibly damage his property?

It seems more reasonable to use the street as a playground than a parking facility to me. Maybe I'm wrong about this. I don't think so though.

That's not really relevant though is it. Here and now today, the law allows people to park cars on the street. Perhaps you feel that shouldn't be permitted, and maybe one day the law will change. But for now, parking on the street is allowed (obviously there are certain restrictions, but there's nothing in the OP's post to suggest he was parked illegally).

If someone's negligence causes damage to the OP's car, there is no debate about who is responsible for that damage.
