I just wanted to try and reassure you....

My cat went missing on Wednesday which he has never done before, he is always at home for breakfast and dinner! Anyway, I went out looking for him and had no luck so I left it a few days and still no luck. On Saturday we made leaflets and posted them through every house in our street and the 2 streets either side. We had an amazing response with people calling and saying they would look out for him.

We finally got a knock at the door on Sunday night from one of our neighbours who said 'I think your cat is out here' I rushed out and there was poor Mickey, very distressed and making lots of noises but I managed to get him in the house. He ate 3 bowls of food and drunk a whole bowl of water, we gave him lots of attention and he went off to sleep! :j

I think he had been stuck in a shed or garage and wasn't able to get home.

It may be worth speaking to neighbours and asking them to have a quick check for you, the lady at cats protection league told me that the majority of missing cats in summer are found in sheds/garages/outbuildings.

I hope she comes home soon for you. x

I hope she is home soon, I know my cat has barely been home since the hot humid weather broke (he just tried to sleep through the heatwave as he hates it) making up for lost playing, being nosy and hunting time. Please don't stress yourself out, I know it is hard xxxx

    Hi Mancbird

Didn't want to read and run - I really hope kitty is back with you soon. Have you tried checking out all her favourite haunts?

I'm sure she is OK, but it does sound like she might have been frightened by gunshot and/or dog and taken herself off to hide somewhere. This could have led her to being shut in an outhouse/shed/garage etc.

I had a friend whose cat went missing once, he was lost for over a week, but on a positive note, we found him locked in an old disused shop that was undergoing refurbishment. It really is highly likely she has got herself locked in somewhere and is just waiting for her escape.

Take care and try not to worry too much, just do what you can and know you're doing as much as you can possibly do. Hugs and thoughts to you :grouphug:

  • Hi, just wanted to say am thinking of you, I know how stressful it can be... Ive got 6 cats at the moment, have taken in pregnant cats in moments of weakness, have had lots of rescue cats... despite being a "dog person" and my cats have the run of the outdoors, with a route in and out of the kitchen at all times. This time of the year there is so much hunting to do, I get the evidence of it every day in my garden, and some days one my girls just doesnt come back. Shes only just started doing it, my old tom comes home every other day this weather, but shes obviously found somewhere she likes to go and hunt her favourite shrews! The first time she did it she was gone a couple days and we hunted for her. I walked the dogs to look for her (firm friends) and left their trail about. She had simply disappeared. We were heartbroken, but then she returned. So dont get yourself too upset.
Cats are fantastic because of the independant streak they have, but they cause you so much worry!
    Trying to shift that debt!
  • Fingers crossed from me too - I'm sure she's just had a fright, gone to hide and snuggled down for a good sleep somewhere.

My boy went missing for 5 days (horrible, he's always home for tea so I know how you feel) - it was during the summer and it was a really hot day but then there was a huge storm so he'd obviously got a fright.

I went in all the neighbours garages/sheds etc as knew they'd been open at the time & couldn't find him. Then the searching, leaflets, phone calls etc ....... few days later my neighbour was in her garage and out he stumbled looking very sleepy - and we'd been in and searched that one already!

    Isn't this just so true!

We love them 'cos of their independence but sometimes I wish I could keep them under lock & key with all the sleepless nights it causes!

It's reassuring to hear about other cats who've done this and come back ok!

Just been for a long walk round the fields and wood and to see some of the neighbours. Everyone has said they will keep an eye out for her and will check their sheds etc. The man at the farm said he might have seen her last night so I'm going to go to where he thought he saw her and check it out.

Just wish she would come home!!!

Didn't want to read and run, I know how you feel! The younger of our two cats went missing last week, he is only 2 years old and this is the first time he's properly gone outside, so I was frantic! Plus there was a notice on the door of a pub warning cat owners that someone has been catching cats and cutting off their tails :O so you can imagine how horrible that was! I ended up putting some cat food in a bowl and leaving it outside, he was out of the shed he was hiding in within minutes and back at home safely :) a few of my friends have mentioned as well that their cats went missing for weeks before and came back as if nothing has happened! Hopefully your cat is just sleeping off the stress somewhere and will come home soon. Keep us updated x
