  • Hi
I'm still struggling to setup Xlite with 1899 voip. I've read and followed the links but the Xlite display hangs when logging in "contact network Admin", then just goes to logging out!
As anyone manged to get their settings in and use Xlite OK? maybe someone could point me in the right direction.

    Thanks in advance

I use 1899 with X-Lite with no problems, though I do usually use X-Lite for Sipgate and FWD and use Firefly for 1899.

At the end of the page has the settings required for 1899 with X-Lite. http://www.bextech.me.uk/voip

If you only use 1899 with X-Lite you may want to set the primary and secondary STUN servers to: stun.1899.com in the 'networks' setup.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

  • Thanks BexTech,
I restarted the PC as Xlite seemed to have hug but I've just made a call OK!
Now I need to see if the Sipgate number works when someone rings in!

    Cheers
  • All seems OK but I can't get the Sipgate number as the Xlite number it shows my normal number in the display preceeded by 1899........and when I ring the Sipgate number, I get the Engaged/busy tone!

    Any ideas

    Thanks

To get 1899 to display your Sipgate number you need to add that number to your 1899 account, and then use that as your username ie) 1899[+ Sipgate number]. Can take 30 minutes for the number to become active, some people reporting 1899 not allowing some Sipgate numbers (fails to log in).

X-Lite should display "Logged In, Enter Phone Number".

As for receiving an engaged tone when calling your number this indicates that the X-Lite program has not registered the number with the network, this may be due to a router blocking accesss and you may need to open some ports. If you do not have a router, then check the SIP ID (usually the last few digits of your Sipgate number, but not always).

  • Hi BexTech
Almost there, my Sip number shows OK in the display but when I dial the number its now a disconnected/dead tone.
I'll probably stick to Xlite for the Sipgate number and the 1899Voip software as I managed to get this running OK, thanks for your help and useful website
    regards

I'm still outside this at the moment. I want to install perhaps Xten in a PDA to use in wifi hotspots. Do any of you know providers that will divert incoming calls on not available (out of wifi range) to another, say int'l mobile, number. Sipgate told me in Oct no plans for diversion. Babble say calls can be diverted, but their tariff is higher than I'd like: 20p vs 7.7p elsewhere.

To take this to another level although there was an intersting story on slashdot about Astereix.

  • I'm having trouble with X-Lite

I've configured it to work with FWD, no issues. I get 2-way voice comms.

I've configured it to work with Call1899, but I only get 1-way voice communications. i.e. I can send voice out from my PC to the other end, but the other end's voice isn't getting through to my client.

I've also tried firefly, and this works fine (using IAX), but I can't work out how to get FWD configured into firefly.
