    Can anybody provide help?

Have set up on 1899 VOIP and Sipgate, it appears to be working, when I dial the Sipgate No, from my landline it rings and I can answer it by clicking on the lift receiver symbol on the Sipgate phone on screen, but there is echo through my speakers?

Yet when dialing my Sipgate No. via my mobile phone,I get the message "you have dialled an incorrect number" I know I haven`t, any ideas why?

    Thanks

    Evening folks

I have just sat a read all 12 pages of this post and think i understand everything when using Sipgate and 1899...... just got one question

I have signed up for Sipgate and have a number assigned to me, I'm looking to use the HandyTone-486 & my standard phone, but can't find any details on how I would set it up to use 1899 as my outgoing all provider.

can I use a standard phone with 1899 or do you have to use the softphone at the moment?

The HandyTone-486 only supports SIP and STUN.

The call1899 config details are at http://www.call1899.co.uk/voip_extra.php

Check to see that your mike is not muted in the sound controls for recording.

How reliable have people found Sipgate? I've had it working and received calls and made them, but today and last night I kept getting log in timed out messages. Briefly today it logged in, but now it's logged back out again. I'm using it with X-Lite. My concern is if I buy some hardware and find Sipgate unreliable as a home phone I'll have wasted my money. I don't know if the problem is my PC, X-Lite or router (which I've configured to forward the relevant ports to my PC which has a static IP address).

Does anyone know how to dial extensions (like operator asks you to press 1) on x-lite with sipgate? I'm having trouble with that...
  • When I order a number from the Sipgate site for VOIP, can I choose a number from anywhere?? EG, if I live in London, can I choose a number with the area code for Edinburgh or Birmingham?

Is it a good idea to use these numbers for incoming business calls or are there terms and conditions attached which mean the numbers could be revoked/charged for in the future?

I am using a wireless network at home and will be using this service in the upstairs spare room. Can I buy a cordless DECT phone or something to use with it or am I better sticking some headphones with a mic into my PC???

    Thanks for any advice
