Is it a good idea to use these numbers for incoming business calls or are there terms and conditions attached which mean the numbers could be revoked/charged for in the future?
I am using a wireless network at home and will be using this service in the upstairs spare room. Can I buy a cordless DECT phone or something to use with it or am I better sticking some headphones with a mic into my PC???
Thanks for any advice
Yes you can choose any area you like.
Yes you can use a cordless phone, if you connect this to an adaptor. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -

BT wised up to the fact many people were using a 'loop hole' to get the free headset.
The free headset is only open for those who have order BTBV.It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... Dos anyone know how 1899 implements CLI on their VOIP service? I assume they cannot pick up your PSTN CLI when making calls via VOIP, especially if using broadband.
I guess the CLI is derived from the main phone number you register with 1899. If that is the case, is it not possible to spoof the main phone number you register with 1899?0 -
The CLI is derived from which ever number you choose 1899 to work with, it doesn't have to be the initially registered (main) number, it can any number you have added to your 1899 account, and yes it is possible to spoof the caller ID, by adding a non existent number to 1899.It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... The transmission of CLI seems sometimes to be switched on, and on others "..we do not have the caller's number".0 -
I have just made a free phone call home from Austria on my laptop. -- 3 second delay. Also rang some friends in the USA

Yes, That's the problem. CLI on all the time with no apparent way of turning off! Tried registering a phone numner of Withheld, Unobtainable, International etc. just to hide phone number!
Only thing I can think of is to enter my area code followed by '1111111'. That way my friends would know who was calling and answer the call - some of them will not if it is 'withheld'. Worse still, some have anonymous call rejection - so that is a way around that problem!
Had not thought of spoofing my 0871 number - that would be a nice touch!0 -
I emailed 1899 and asked them I it would be possible to register my 0871 and 0870 numbers, they just said they have no plans on allowing it at the moment.
I just use my local area code followed by 000 0000.It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... Would it be possible to edit the javascript (or whatever) that validates phone numbers to 'kid it' into accepting an 0871 number- this verification seems to be done locally - rather than on the 1899 server.0
