  • Hello, Can I join please?

I have 3 stone to lose.......very depressing. I have wanted to lose weight for ages but obviously wanting is not enough!

I am doing the 30 day shred, well just started and am going to eat more fruit and veg plus less chocolate and cherry coke.

I am starving at the moment so off to find something for breakfast...........

Maybe we should stick together on this as its likely we will be taking longer to get where we need to. How are you going to go about losing the weight? I'm going to stick to healthier foods, keep off the wine except at weekends and start to exercise on top of walking 30 mins a day. I've just got the Mr Motivator BLT dvd which has 7 different 10 min routines, think this will be ideal for me as I am very unfit and want to do exercise before work so 10 mins will be ideal as I won't have to get up much earlier as I am not a morning person.

Sounds like a good idea - a buddy system. I really need one of those. Here follows a list of excuses :D

I recently took a new job, which is 50 miles away from home, which means I have to leave earlier in the mornings, so my dog walks have been cut down. I also get home later in the evenings, hence dog walks have been cut down. (Dog gets good exercise with the dog walker/family during the day though, so he's alright).

Thankfully I will be changing locations in about 4 weeks' time which means I can go back to proper walks but also go to the 'early bird' swim session on a Friday morning (6.30-7.30). Hopefully I will also get home/organised to do the adults only swim nights 9.00-10.00 on a Mon & Weds as well as kick the dog walks back to normal.

On weekends, I try to take the dog around the coastal path walks that are dotted around here. Our favourite one is a 3 mile round trip, which I used to be able to do with ease. Now, walking up the hills I think i'm going to die :( so i need to get fit enough to do that again. We've found a lovely new walk up in the haldon great park, but I'm not sure of the length, must check.

I also have a serious addiction to ice cream. I don't mean addiction in the flippant 'oh i love it' kind of way, i mean in an 'its all i can think about, i must have some immediately, if not it will go round and round my head all night kind of way. And of course my favourite is Ben n Jerry's so not kind on the purse either. So I'm trying to work on the 'not having ice cream' thing. I figure by just cutting it out that should help. I may need serious restraint at some times though! I know thats not going to be easy.

I'm also going to try portion control. I don't seem to have that switch in my head that says 'ok, you're full now, stop eating'. So I've switched from using dinner plates to side plates (which are still quite big, but there is something psychological about seeing a 'full plate'.

I try and batch cook and everything is portioned up so I work out the calorie count of those meals, but I need to stop the additional snacking before and after.

I don't really drink alcohol. so don't have that to cut down, but I know my snacking/bingeing is way out of control and I desperately need to rein it in :(

Gosh that turned into a bit of a confession :(

I also have the snacking thing Orange, I ate pringles and sultaunas (not a good combination) last night cos I was tired and then a chocolate bar all around 10pm - er I could have gone to bed!!

I eat cake at work, and biscuits. and crisps all day. I actually hate food and wish some one would make a pill to replace it all so I wouldn't have to worry about everything I put in my mouth. Breakfast was crossiants this morning but is normally nothing, lunch is a salad but I know I will snack on chocolate without even thinking about it. and cherry coke..........and I don't exercise.

Grrr, I need to find food I like and something good for breakfast to stop my blood sugar going all over the show. and to stop being so tired all the time.

    Also a confession oops

I *think* I've been good today (so far!). I'm actually working an extra shift for the GP out of hours service (extra pocket money) so today i've had:

30g cornflakes plus semi skimmed milk (i weighed it. 30g is piddly) and tea
I've been made 3 cups of tea so far and have drunk even half of one of them
Roast beef with veg (last nights leftovers)

Thankfully, there's nothing to snack on here cos i feel hungry (although i think its thirst lol)

Hiya for anyone who has a smart phone. I have downloaded for FREE a app called Fatsecret. Its Brilliant, they is not a UK food I have typed in the search box, it has not come up with. Other tools on it too. Amazing app for nothing, I would be prepared to pay for it, give it a try, you can always delete. It also syncs with there website.

I am calorie counting for the moment until I get into the swing of things. FS says I need 1800 cals a day, sounds good to me.

    Have a Fab weekend all.

    1st day went over well. 400cals under:j

Ooh that sounmds like a great app, once I have found my charger I will have to download it and give it a try. At the mo just trying to eat better is a start, but I need to get more disciplined. My current excuse is that with starting a new job I have so much to learn and think about I don't want to think about other things. But I know that I have eaten a lot less than I had been but I do need to step things up.

Today hasn't been the best for me as I have had a headache since yesterday morning that I just can't shift. Not sure if its linked to cutting down on my cups of tea - I used to have one an hour on average, but since starting work I am on about 2 a day. Or if it is just down to the new job and the tension I have been under. So today I've been having a few sugary drinks to see if that will help in case its low blood sugar levels. Writing this down makes me realise how full of excuses I am and why I'm the size I am.

I can so relate to this Sparkerly, I have tried every diet under the sun. They have all worked, I always lose weight. I just never stick to them or to a healthy eating plan. So I can never blame anything else..........just me !

  • DFW checking in :)

I've been at mums since thursday (going home today) and i Have to say i've fallen off the diet wagon spectacularly :o:o On thursday i was at my sisters house and she had already made dinner which was jacket potatoes with cheese & salad so pretty healthy :T unfortunately thursday morning i went out for breakfast with the girls :o and had a big fry up oops

Friday my son was leaving school for summer hols and so we had to grab lunch somewhere in between prize giving & parade so we ended up at the pub next door to the school :o a gammon, pineapple, jacket pot (swapped for chips :T) and pudding- cake later i fel so sick! BUT then for dinner (DH met me at mums for the night) he went and ordered a chinese and got some bulmers in :o so couldn't say no lol as there was no other food in.

Today started off well until i was starving and ended up eating an entire box of maltesers (oops) and then DH went out and got us dinner- bl**dy pizza grrr i don't think he is taking the diet thing too seriously! SO have written off this weekend and will start again tomorrow when i'm at home!

AND i have decided i will weigh on a friday morning with you all (just so i don't have to weigh myself monday as usual :rotfl: and then cry at the weight i have put on!!!)

Welcome to all the new people, it doesn't matter if you have lots to lose or a little :) at the most i will be losing 1 and half stone.....but ideally just aiming for one stone as i don't want to be too skinny (well would rather skinny than what i am now lol but still....nice to have curves in the right places if you know what i mean :rotfl:)

Will check back in tomorrow or monday now, off to catch up on some diaries :D

I have signed up to nutracheck again. I know its not very MSE in that its a pay site, but it is MSE for me in seeing everything in black and white and the totals to keep to helps me stay on track - ergo reduced grocery spend.

I used it a few years back and it was excellent, lost 3 stone. Then moved jobs to a company whose internet filters blocked the site, and as I spent a loooooot of time at work and was also living in hotels for 6 months back then i just lost the habit, put on my lost 3 stone and 3 more for good measure :(

So hopefully will see the benefit of these changes this month
