Well done on the shopping bill.
I don't know the difference between the two but I use the Basic stuff and it tastes fine on my chipsI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Read the label on the basic to see if it is actually vinegar or "non brewed condiment", the latter being a by product of oil production.Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0

Under ingredients it says:
malt vinegar from malted barley
roast barley malt extract
acidity 5%

it's exactly the same as the usual store brand vinegar or Sarson's.0

The only thing I find with the cheaper vinegars is that they sometimes just have a bottle mouth, if that makes sense, instead of a internal shaker thingy. If so, and you want to shake it on your chips, either decant it into the old bottle, or sometimes the plastic inner bit from the old bottle will fit the new one
hope this makes sense!

You will probably find the 'basics' vinegar is 5% (fine for your chips, but not for pickles or chutneys) where as Sarsons or more expensive store brands is 7% acidity ( fine for pickles, chutney or Chips).
As previously don't be fooled by 'non-brewed condiment' taste is foul and preserving qualities are cra1p.It matters not if you try and fail, and fail and try again; But it matters much if you try and fail, and fail to try again.

Honest, I have searched all the threads about using vinegar to clean the washing machine, and I understand about doing a hot wash with a cup of vinegar to keep the machine clean. BUT people on here also seem to be putting vinegar in the wash almost instead of conditioner. My question is: is using vinegar in a wash in order to soften the clothes without using conditioner, or is it to help keep the machine clean (like the hot vinegar wash)? I never use conditioner anyway, so why would I want to put vinegar in with my clothes ? Sorry to be dim.....0
