It does need to be diluted. You can make an OS multi-purpose cleaning spray from one-third each of white vinegar, Stardrops, and water. If you can make use of an old spray bottle, it is even more OS. It does smell of vinegar when first sprayed, but this disappears in seconds.

  • I love vinegar. Since moving to the UK, I've had complaints from the wife that the house stinks like a chip shop when I use it, but no one can deny that it's cheap, environmentally sound and it WORKS! :D

Shame that white vinegar is harder to find. Where does everyone find theirs... where it won't break the bank?

I buy it by the gallon from http://www.summernaturals.co.uk/

I've been really pleased with their service and fast delivery. There may be other options but not where I live ;)

    That was fantastic, thanks.

One question, why white vinegar, not brown? Does the colour stain or something? I'm sure the brown is cheaper, and it can't make any difference for things like cleaning taps, can it?

Yes it's because of the staining - for most things I use brown vinegar though, I even put it in the washing and it doesn't stain.
