I like the idea of using vinegar but have been wondering if it's really cheaper for all uses? I can only find the 65p? bottle in tesco and, at that price it seems as expensive as washing up liquid/fabric conditioner etc. How do you all mange to get it to work out so much cheaper?0

We usually buy our white vinegar in a 5 litre tub from Makro, but last time we had some from Bargain Madness at 35p for 568ml. The biggest advantages are that you can buy it in smaller amounts, it's in glass bottles so easier to recycle and also cheaper than Makro too, £3.08 at BM and £3.50 at Makro for the equivalent amount. Slightly off topic I know, but has anyone noticed how strongly some people smell of fabric conditioner when you haven't used it for a while? Maybe they think I smell of vinegar.....:rotfl:0

Hi OldStylers
Could you help me please?
Is Distilled vinegar the same as White Vinegar?
I am planning on trying to convert all my cleaning products to Homemade greener alternatives and White Vinegar comes up quite often in the list of things needed.
Distilled vinegar can be gotten from Tescos for pence, but i can only find the White vinegar in squirty bottles in my hardware store for over a pound
Just wondered if they were the same thing??0 -

Hi,
I've seen lots of threads on this board where people recommend vinegar for various cleaning/descaling/fabric conditionin type uses.
Where can you get it cheaply? In Tescos it seems quite expensive for just a small bottle and the amount the OSers use it you must have great vats of it!MS Stalwart. Used site for >10 years :jMake Do, Mend and Minimise member - focussing on upcycling/repurposing and sewing0 -
