Dependant on the quantity you want, either a) any supermarket next to the malt vinegar etc., (about 50p for 500ml I think) or if you want a lot of white vinegar b) Chinese supermarkets ... they sell it in 5litre bottles dirt cheapGC - March 2024 -0

I mostly get mine from Macro, but when we are in France I buy it from the supermarket €0.70 for a litre bottle, my local tesco only has small bottles, its much cheaper if you can buy 5L containers. Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0

Thanks for the replies everybody. I have bought a bottle of distilled vinegar (actually barley malt vinegar) which is not exactly the same as WHITE VINEGAR which is what I'm looking for. It's the common form of vinegar in N.America but obviously not here. I'll try the Chinese supermarket but have to go to London for that (I'm in Kent). Also, going to France next month so will have a look there.0

Probably a bit of a bone question but here goes anyway. I went to buy some vinegar for cleaning purposes today, understanding that I needed white vinegar. In the supermarket though there was only brown malt vinegar and a clear vinegar called Distilled Vinegar. When I read the label further it said "Distilled Barley Malt Vinegar". Is this what I need? Is distilled barley malt vinegar, white vinegar? Also it was 50p for a 500ml is this good, seems dear to me? Cheers folks.{Signature removed by Forum Team}0

I think you find any vinegar is good, but the white/clear stuff is the best. I had a book that tells me what to use and so on, but my Aunt has it at the moment. What you cleaning with it?0

A good place to buy cheap white vinegar is a Chinese supermarket like Wing Yip
I think they have an online shop. You can buy large containers of it.
As Fantastico says any vinegar will work, but obviously don't use expensive wine vinegar or balsamic0 -

Well the cooker, general kitchen stuff and I wanted to try it out in the fabric softener drawer, thus ruling out traditional malt.{Signature removed by Forum Team}0
