Remove your cooker and replace with one of these toy "freestanding cookers"
Nobody said it had to be a functional cooker!
Haha now that is a good idea! I really would get hold of one of these and leave it in.. Id prob end up in court or something though haha.0 -
last time I GAVE a nine year old freestanding cooker to someone who was buying my house the so-and-so sued me as the timer didnt work.
If anyone asks me now, I want it in the paperwork in blood that I am not accepting any responsibility for if it works or not!
I'm not over it yet, even though it was 1997, as you can tell.
You know what, thats a valid point. What if I give it to them and then something goes wrong with it, would I be held responsobile for it? Im guessing I would as I included it in the sale! argh!0 -

You've had plenty of other suggestions round the problem though so nothing else to add to that - presumably thsi is more a rant rather than genuinely asking for advice
You've got a bit confused mate, at my house there is a free standing cooker. In the house I am buying from them there is a oven and hob fitted into the kitchen, this is included in the price I am paying them. Allthough the free standing one in my house is not included in the price they are paying me.. allthough they want it to be0 -
OP I'm stubborn sometimes and let it go sometimes. In this instance I'd tell them they have seven days to accept my house without the cooker at the already agreed price or the deal is gone. That way I'd sleep very easily knowing I'm in the right, sometimes principle is more important than money. It's someone else's fault.0

Easier said than done when the mrs is looking over my shoulder shouting to leave the fricking cooker.. haha.:rotfl:0 -

Hmm, well i think I was unlucky and just sold to a total idiot...!
He knocked it onto that auto timer option where oven will come on in say 4hrs time, couldnt then get it to light...hubby went around, he couldnt get it to knock off (we didnt know how to, I never cook like that!), but that was problem, so he called out an expensive engineer, who managed to sort it, and he then fitted a new timer..he had also knocked it off at the wall, he was freakish about switching every socket off at night...and that somehow tripped it ..... cooker had worked perfectly fine for years, we were even cooking when they knocked on the door and asked to view the house.
Anyway we had to foot the whole bill which was a lot more than the second hand cooker had cost me many years earlier. So since then, yes I make sure solicitor makes sure I am not liable if I leave a cooker/fridge!...You never know what idiot will buy your house.0 -
To be honest I would be on freecycle or ebay looking for a free standing oven (listed spares or repairs) assuming that you can hard wire it in ok? leave them that- I presume they havnt asked if it works as you havnt told them its included. You could also say to them, I will leave it as requested but you know it doesnt work dont you, we tend to eat out/microwave/slow cooker etc?
I wonder if all the posters who are saying leave it would do the same if it was a private buyer being so awkward? Also with these part ex deals dont you tend to get a lower price than full market value?0 -
Agree with the OP, it's a ruddy cheek!
However-
Is your solicitor a fixed price or pay-by-the-hour one? If pay-by-the-hour, then the time it'll take to sort out the changes int eh paperwork will probably mean it'll have been cheaper to leave 'em the thing in the first place.
Other option would be to post on your local Freecycle group for a spare freestanding cooker.0 -
and pay someone to install it - hardly worth it..!0
