Buyer demanding I leave items in house..

Thanks for your replies guys.
The problem with me leaving it - Ive already promised it to my brother in law, it was a pretty expensive cooker when we bought it. He is moving into a new house soon and has no cooker so I said he could have ours. I dont see why I should even think about leaving it for Barratts when we had not even discussed it during the initial negotiations.
But on the other hand, its just a cooker. But I dont like being pushed about by these muppets.0 -

Is that directed at me, or them?0 -
What are you going to do with old second hand cooker anyway? The new house comes with one I presume. Leave it filthy if it makes you happy.
Ok so you do have a plan ask Barrats what the reduction in price is with out the cooker.0 -
I agree , i don't like being pushed around either. Tell them your not leaving it end of.
Depends if you want an easy life i suppose! but like you said it hadn't been discussed.0 -

I dont understand why I would even have to discuss the price reduction with them, I have agreed a price with them - NOT INCLUDING THE COOKER. So why should I now agree a different price with them? Whats then to stop them coming back and saying - leave the fridge aswell while your at it.. haha.

Does the fixtures and fittings list not form part of the contract? If they're trying to change this list, then I take it no contract has been signed? Do they know what make/model the cooker is? Or do you think you could get away with replacing it with a cheap, second hand one? Hell, does it even need to work? After contracts have been signed, what can they do?0

They dont know what make it is, or even if it works for that matter, its never even been discussed!! Im not sure about if the fixtures and fittings list forms part of the contract, Im sure one of more experienced friends can answer that one.
I think they are just trying to get as much out of me as possible, as I would with them. Its just annoying as they told me they wanted to complete this week, but yet they are stalling over a bloody cooker haha.0 -
I tend to agree. In the grand scheme of moving house, an old cooker worth £200 (if that) isn't worth causing the deal to collapse. How much time, money and grief would that cost you? At least it will save you the hassle of moving it.0

[QUOTE=micflair;446
55734]Why should I do this though? If it was included as stated in the fixtures and fittings form then of course I should leave it, but it wasn't..
Should I leave them my TV also if they ask me to?[/QUOTE]
Have you exchanged contracts? People are free to negotiate until that point, regardless of what is in the F&F list. Why should you leave it? Because their offer involved it being left as much as your form involved it not - clearly. Are you sure it isn't in the part-ex paperwork? I wouldn't be surprised if it's a very standard clause in their T&Cs, these people know how they do business. They aren't eyeing up your cooker, they will want it for resale, it will be company policy.
You're not doing them a favour by selling them your house, they're doing you a favour by part ex-ing yours. No matter which way way you dress it up, you're moving into your new house with a new cooker because of them agreeing to take your house. They give you a house with a cooker, you give them a house with a cooker.
I was merely suggesting how you go about doing it in an MSE way. I even said if you can't negotiate your way out of it, so I'm not saying that you should or shouldn't.
I might have lost my sense of humour this evening, but not sure what the relevance of the TV is at all. Trying to be helpful and get facetious comments back.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Yeah I actually agree with you there, but like I said - I have promised it to someone else and I dont see why I should leave it, in a normal sale between 2 people you would negotiate a price for such an item, not just demand that it is left unless this was agreed before hand.0
