Buyer demanding I leave items in house..

have they said how much they are going to reduce the price of the house by?? how much is a second hand free standing cooker worth??
No they have not mentioned any figures yet - I dont intend on letting it get to that point to be honest, if they start getting serious I will leave the damn cooker. Its just so annoying that they think they can just push around people like this..0 -

You can be stubborn if you want - and you probably should be - but are you prepared to not buy their house at all and go and find another one?
It's def worth pushing them - after all they are not the only people selling houses.
But in a years time if no one else has bought your house (and bear in mind they might well have a buyer who would still buy your house.... even if not thorugh them) then how would you feel?
I suspect part of me would want to wind them up quite a lot.
No Im not prepared to lose either my sale, or my purchase from them over this issue, I just think its a joke that they are doing this, we are due to complete in a few days so to pull out something like this at this point is just stupid.0 -
just tell em no... cooker has been sold to BinL.... they cant have something that is not yours to give... as for the price of the house I do agree with you.. the cooker as its free standing is not a fixture or a fitting...
when we bought our house (many years ago) I asked when counted as a fixture or fitting and was told that if you turn the house upside down anything that didn't move stayed.. ur cooker would move..
good luckLife is like a box of chocolates........
too much all at once and you start to feel just a little sick...._ _pale_

Tell them it's an extra £200."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
Bit confused as you said previously that the hob was included (previous page somewhere). How can it be a free standing oven if a separate hob, surely its built in or under counter so effectively built in then?
You've had plenty of other suggestions round the problem though so nothing else to add to that - presumably thsi is more a rant rather than genuinely asking for advice0 -
I was also confused by that!0

Cheers guys for the support. Ive let both mine, and there solicitor know Im not willing to be pushed about by them, if they want the cooker they will have to pay extra for it, not take it for free and certainly not offer me less if I dont leave it. If they wanted to make me an offer for the house including certain items they should have made this clear at the time of there offer.
Obvioulsy now it will take 15 people over 2 weeks to reply, so we will see what happens..0 -
59 posts over a cooker!
Just give the darn thing to your brother, and buy a £50 one on ebay to replace it!
Is it really worth quibbling over a cooker for the sake of a house sale?!?!
They're a big company, and probably can't be ars*d to find another cooker themselves, so want it out of convenience!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Remove your cooker and replace with one of these toy "freestanding cookers"
Nobody said it had to be a functional cooker!0 -

last time I GAVE a nine year old freestanding cooker to someone who was buying my house the so-and-so sued me as the timer didnt work.
If anyone asks me now, I want it in the paperwork in blood that I am not accepting any responsibility for if it works or not!
I'm not over it yet, even though it was 1997, as you can tell. :eek:0
