Although a slight correction. The first thing NORMAL people do when a meal arrives is they taste it to see if it needs salt and pepper.
Chips and egg need salt, as they are not cooked in it! And sauce isnt already included in the cooking?0 -

thank you Mr scientist, i never realised any food NEEDED salt. I must now amend my ways for never putting salt on my egg.
I shall now strip naked and walk out onto the street for a public flogging.0 -

Environmental health officers concentrate on food safety. Taste or quality are always a matter of opinion vs cost of the food etc.
They will want to make sure the fridges are functioning correctly for chilled food and the freezers etc. They'll also want to know that all cooked foor has had a core temp of at least (it's around 70 degrees but can't quiet remember now) for at least 2 minutes. They'll check for cross contamination or any sign of pests but no warnings would be issued for taste unless there is a major issue connected with food safety.0 -

Yes I use expensive Restaurants as well, but for a snack I decided to use Wetherspoons. And even at £10 they are making a profit. And everyone is entitled to a refund if the food at whatever price is C***!
In that case then I could eat at Wetherspoons and complain every time because the food does not fulfil my criteria of being 'good food' LOLMember no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

Sarah if you go ito a Fish and Chip Shop/Restaurant, and your meal was served to you cold. And the return meal was awful. then would you still accept it? I dont think you would?;)0 -
I'm often in my local Wetherspoons for drinks and occassionaly food. The last time a friend and I went for food she ordered a steak and I a jacket potato. First of all I tried to order a salad but was told they had completely run out of all salad (about 7pm), so decided on a jacket potato. However, as it is supposed to come with a side salad i asked what was being offered as alternative. After a chat with every man and his dog that was working, I was offered chips (with a jacket potato?!) but suggested perhaps i could have two toppings of cheese and beans which they finally agreed to.
At this point we thought that everything was dealt with - oh how we were wrong!
A few minutes later the duty manager/supervisor brought up my friends steak with jacket potato, peas and tomato but no mushroom ('we've run out'). My friend wasn't that bothered so ignored it after all the initial hassle. Anyway.. 20 odd minutes later my friend had finished and mine still hadn't arrived. I went to the bar supervisor who said they would investigate and on opening the shute to the kitchen found my potato still in there. The supervisor did say sorry and handed over a the potato with the beans gone hard and melted cheese.
Anyway, like a lot of you said every wetherspoons is different and people can make mistakes. In this case i'm afraid I didn't complain anymore as I had already been made to feel like I had complained too much and it is my local0 -
I have a Wetherspoons fifty yards away and patronise it a lot. The beer is beautifully kept and served - never had a bad pint - for around a pound a pint less than anywhere else locally. Had dozens of meals there too, and only one or two were bad. (Avoid the Sunday roasts, in my opinion).Their steaks are usually excellent, and on steak night me and OH can have a passable bottle of wine and a decent meal each for less than £20. The staff are always friendly, and it pays to get to know the manager. Really looking forward to them going smoke free next year.I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0
