Newspapers Report "Disabled Car Plan Racket"

Quite literal!
At least I AM contributing. My objection is to those that contribute NOTHING. The likes of the disabled/sick that don't work and pay tax, the unemployed that don't work and pay tax, the pensioners that don't work and pay tax.
Obviously there are exceptions. But in the main the majority in the above categories do NOT contribute anything - yet take everything!!!
As for when I retire I said I would have to top up my income....... I didn't say I would! No different to those that choose not to claim other benefits or an increase in DLA (as in my case). We will have to see if we can manage without having to claim a means tested benefit. Claiming one of those, (with no comparison to WTC) puts the government in charge of what you can have to live off. If I had have wanted to have a life without work and screw as much out of the benefit system as I wanted, then I could have so easilly done so. And with housing benefit and council tax benefit, been a whole lot better off than working!!!
So no, if I can avoid claiming anything I will do so. That is how I have spent my whole life. Being as self sufficient as possible, even down to a bit of busking in London and Canterbury - which is still an option now!!
You forgot being a crap thief and spending time in jail at the taxpayers expense.
(At the end of 2005 ... Keeping each prisoner costs £41000 annually (or £112.32 a day) )I have served two spells inside.
One for theft and the other for attempted theft.
I carried out (attempted) the second offence because I had no other choice. I had no support, no home, no food, no money and nobody to care for me.
During the second sentence I had help before I was discharged. I came out and was met by a charity worker, given a flat, furniture and a giro was there waiting there for me from the Social to last for one week. After 6 weeks They found me a job, and I'm still there after 6 years!
So yes every excon needs a helping hand.
There are so many pig ignorant people around just like dave.0 -

So someone who has worked all there life and now retired (so are a pensioner) has never paid tax? Or are you saying no one should ever retire?
You state that your wife hasn't worked for 24yrs, therefore you must object to her since she has contributed NOTHING.
But again you seem to forget, they everyone has/is paying tax, be they disabled, sick, unemployed or pensioners since when anyone buys something that is a TAX on it, it's called VAT.0 -
Yes I'll admit I did wrong. But when you are left with no other choice but to steal or starve, see your kids with no clothes, not being able to buy medication for yourself, no roof over your head and countless other problems, what do you expect me to do?
I never stole from ordinary people, just banks and other financial institutions. How much did I nick? If you mean the total or the one I got caught out with - no more than £1000 in total over 8/9 years.
If I could have had benefits at the time it would not have been necessary.
Ahh where's a violinist when you need one?"Life is what you make of it, whoever got anywhere without some passion and ambition?0 -
Proud to be lazy? And to take out more than you put in? That's so funny!
You are such a hoot Beller. It's amusing that you're trying to look down on disabled people here, when it would be so easy to look down on you. 0 -

You mean you where in jail at TAX PAYER expense and when you came out of jail you had a GIRO but that's a benefit.....!!!
WHAT CHOICE YOU HAVE IS, CLAIM WHAT YOU'RE ENTITLED TO SO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY HAVE FOOD AND CLOTHING....0 -
I look down on you because you're lazy, and have abilities which you are not using to their full potential because you cannot be bothered.
I would give anything to be able to work to my full potential again, but the ability to do that has been taken away from me by illness. What do you mean by "the life of a disabled person?". I have no choice in how I have to live now.
I have certainly contributed more in taxes than you will have done, so if I chose I could look down on you for that. I think doing so would be pathetic though.
I'm really not sure who your arguments are targeted at.0 -
No, but they should where they can, continue to work, be it voluntary or paid employment.!
No one has a right to sit on their backside and expect to be kept.
You state that your wife hasn't worked for 24yrs, therefore you must object to her since she has contributed NOTHING.
Errr but she hasn't taken anything out of the benefit system.
Why hasn't she worked - maybe because she has been ill and not able to work, did you not think of that?
But you state everyone; Sick, Disabled or Retired should continue working, so why hasn't your wife....??? If she can teach your kids and make you families cloths then she can do the same for others even if only Voluntary.0 -

I certainly don't get as many benefits as that.
And at least those here that aren't able to lead a fulfilling career and earn a good living have a very good reason for not being able to do so, not just because they failed at life.
And who is it that is actually taking the !!!! here? lol
How dare you call some one a failure at life. Just because he voiced an opinion that you disagree with you feel fit to call him names etc. As a tax payer, member of society and human being he is entitled to his opinion, or have you banned free speech. Not so long ago some one with a mobility car wanted to know what help she could get taking her children to school ~ as her partner was using the Mobility car to get to and from work every day.
