Newspapers Report "Disabled Car Plan Racket"

I have explained why, it's my choice and I prefer to leave it as it is. The only reason I applied for DLA was to just get the lower of either care or mobilty it didn't matter which. It was more important, as I am working and independent, to have in place the ability to be treated as in full time work working over 16 hours a week, and receive the disability premium.
Started working 16 hours years ago when it was Disabled Persons Tax Credit.
I claimed, quite rightly that I couldn't make a meal and that I get anxious in strange places. I was offered low mobility.
Been like that ever since.
I am quite happy with what I get. I don't want to be greedy. It is better to just ask for a little and have no problems getting it (no medical etc - just based on what the GP said) than to ask for everything and have to possibly appeal which I couldn't face.
I keep myself to myself, and don't cause trouble for others. You never know where it would end if you went round informing on people that are benefit cheats, tax cheats etc. I don't bother them and they don't bother me. Nice and simple and a quiet life with it.
Sorry I'm missing something's, are you now saying you are disabled, when a few posts up you said you weren't disabled?
The £190 gross a week you earn, does this include you're low rate mobility?
Still don't understand why, if like you say your entitled to DLA you don't claim it, after all it's not means tested, taxed or has to be declared to any employee if you don't want them to know you're disabled. You also don't have to spend it getting a free car on Motability, just think of your wife and kids when turning down this much needed money you say you need. Like others have said, you apply and are awarded I've never heard of selected only to take a lower rate when entitled to more, but if it's the stress of the appeal two ways to look at it; 1 all the extra stress of you and your family having to live for years without enough money to live on should out weigh the stress of a appeal, 2 you don't have to appeal so apply for everything if you don't get it all fine life like that but you might just get it all so no appeal is needed.
Also if you're disabled, on low income you should be able to get help with other things, Housing Benefit, Council Tax etc
If you're on lower income with a wife and 2 kids what Working Tax Credits are you getting and is that part of your £190 gross a week?
Does your wife work or claim any benefits?
Why wouldn't to report some of these benefit cheats who are abusing the Motability Scheme? You post how much you hate that your hard earned taxes is being used like this on a Public Internet Board but you won't use a confidential phone line to report them. Why write what you have on here if your attitude is "I don't bother them and they don't bother me. Nice and simple and a quiet life with it"?
From your earlier posts when you seemed to imply you weren't disabled and didn't claim any benefits, but now seems you are disabled and claim LRM and Tax Credits......!!!!
You do seem to be contradicting yourself....0 -
Do you think it is fair that Drug addicts can have higher rate DLA and a free car ?Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

I left school at 15 in 1965 and had no idea what I wanted to do. I did take a few GCE's got Maths, English Lang, History & Physics. Never went back to school to collect the certificates! I'm a musician really and did a bit here and a bit there.
Never had a steady job, couldn't be bothered to be honest.
Travelled Britain picking up a job or two. Got to 30, married and had 2 kids. Had to get a job, so I went fruit picking in the summer and odd jobs in the winter.
Found this job years ago, cleaning, polishing and general tidying in a small factory.
Too old now to do anything else.
Qualifications to me mean nothing. No need for them. School was bad enough. There are just as many qualified people like drivers and doctors and nurses out of work than there are others, so why bother.
We just about manage.
What are you hoping to do with all your qualifications then?
Fine, that's your choice .... BUT at the beginning of the thread you were the one complaining about only earning £190, and that you'll always be on minimum wage. That's no-one's fault but your own. S
If you don't want to make the effort, fine, but don't whine about not reaping the rewards that those who have worked harder than you have.I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say.

Am I wrong ... I thought the disabled premium of WTC was only payable to those on higher rate DLA ??I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say.

The car is NOT free. It is paid out of the persons disability money. Cant comment on the drug addict thing though cos personally that is if the individual also has disabilites (physical, mental). But, becoming a drug addict and then claiming DLA is wrong because a person becomes a drug addict through CHOICE. People dont become disabled through choice.Do you think it is fair that Drug addicts can have higher rate DLA and a free car ?

No I don't claim DLA for what I am entitled to, just the lower rate of mobility that helps with the tax credit claim.. I prefer to work and be accepted as 'normal' by my work colleagues who along with my employer, knows nothing about my conditions and I wish it to remain that way.
Before 2006, Disability Tax Credit was paid as part of your wages (I've just checked my old pay slips to make sure), therefore your employee would know you're disabled in some way.
So again no point in not claiming what your fully entitled to, if the reason is to hide the fact your disabled....0 -
ive not heard that saying for a while !!!!!!! suits to a tee lol.jetta_wales wrote: »I don't know, Bełłend might if their jealousy gets any worse lol

The thing a lot of people also seem to have missed is that this person claims to be getting LRM, but lives a carefree life.It was more important, as I am working and independent, to have in place the ability to be treated as in full time work working over 16 hours a week, and receive the disability premium.
The lower rate of the mobility component of Disability Living Allowance (DLA) is paid to people who need guidance or supervision from another person when walking outdoors in unfamiliar places. Clearly from !!!!!!!s previous posts this does not seem to be the case.[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.
