I can echo all that's been said on this forum. I actively avoid any company which uses HDNL, Citylink or any of these other cowboy delivery firms. They have NEVER sucessfully delivered anything to me. I suspect it is becasue I live in a 3rd floor flat on a gated development, which can be slightly 'tricky' to find and they cannot be bothered to find the address. I seek out companies which use Royal Mail. For all the bad press, Royal Mail generally deliver parcels about 7:30-8am, so before I leave for work and if I'm out a card will be left and the sorting office is a 10 minute walk away, rather than a 30 minute drive.

A couple of months ago John Lewis sent us a TV. The HD driver drove past our entrance, went down to a farm and stuck in snow and ice. He was stuck for hours. This month I had a delivery from Amazon. HD sent it straight back to Amazon as undeliverable. I cannot get it now. Neither firm wants any communication. Beware!

I feel your pain and that of the HDN driver. He probably lost a days pay due to his mishap. I daresay loads of other people did not receive thier packages that day, given that he was stuck for hours :(

As far as I know icy conditions and snow do not apply at this time, so I'm surprised they are refusing to even attempt delivery. Looks like you've been blacklisted.

You'll have to re-order your item from a supplier that does not use HDN.

Seems from the posts that the most issues arise for those in flats - but the attitudes of the drivers make a difference too. I regularly order from very.co.uk whose courier is HDN, and the driver is excellent - you can guarantee nine times out of ten he'll arrive between 11 - 11.30, and if I'm not here, I'll leave a post it note on the door asking him to go to our next door neighbours with it. Never had an issue at all.
Our postman, on the other hand, has to be the grumpiest old bu**er ever!! If you have to open the door to him, he doesnt speak - just thrusts the book into your hand for you to sign, chucks your parcel at you and grumps back off down the path. He's lazy too, don't get the mail til about 2ish when he's on, but when the younger one delivers its here by about 10.30!

Have you ever tipped him at Xmas? That's probably why he's a grumpy old bu**er :)

Surely he might be doing the route the other way around though?
This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine

or does the route in a different order

decided to add to this,i know people whine on about the time mail arrives(yet then said they werent bothed when posties moaned at later starts?)
it seems the common conception is if a postie arrives early it makes then good,'late' and they are lazy
    so take 2 posties
postie A signs for items himself and shoves them through,he pushes mail into the letterbox but doesnt push it through,if nobodys home he leaves the packet at the doorstep,he cuts through gardens etc to save time
postie B waits for a signature and if no answer leaves a full filled out red card, all mail is pushed all the way though,if nobody is home for packages he will elave a filled out card and maybe try the neighbours,he makes sure he follows the paths when delivering

of course postie A is finished earlier so is the better postie

work this one out. I bought a buggy off someone and was supposed to be collected Monday gone, they didn't turn up but randomly went on Tuesday evening luckily the lady was in, it sat in Yorkshire until yesterday evening because it wasn't sent down here to Surrey, it had been put as a collection again so they tried to re collect a parcel from her. It is due today but nothing yet. Here is me with a newborn baby unable to go out due to no buggy, my last one wheel fell off. Can't use the car as waiting for the car seat with the buggy so i have been stuck in all week. Plus the lady paid extra for next day so i have had to wait another 3 days for it. I am majorly unhappy and when i rung this morning i complained and she snottily said 'least you will get it today'. Not impressed

Like others here my heart sinks when I see a parcel is to be delivered by HDNL. I have had large expensive items left on the doorstep and no knock at the door even though I was in and the TV was on in full view of open curtains. Another time they left an external hard drive sitting just where it would be kicked down the step had I not glanced down. Latest was them leaving a delivery intended for a little boys birthday present [delivered to friends house in Scotland]. We rang on his Birthday to be told that no present had arrived from us. We suggested they checked with neighbours. It was found in the garden shed. How stupid is this - no attempt to knock door but leave it in a shed with no card through door. The Father had noticed a van turning but nobody knocked at the door.

I am now awaiting a radio from Amazon and dread how it will be delivered.

Amazon seem to think that their promising to honour any purchase even were it to be stolen from my doorstep misses the point somewhat.

I feel they should renamed themselve 'Dump It And Scarper'.

Worse however is they now own 'DHL Domestic' which gave me an acceptable service.
