I guess their phone lines are busy with those who couldn't be bothered to understand the changes.
Far more likely to be busy with those who have been let down by failures of the system.

If they do send you a temporary pin number where would you put it?
After you get to the page telling you this, I see no box for a pin number.

Oh yes it is. Logged onto new procedures within 30 seconds. Test £1 transferred back to my nominated account within an hour. Only a short term failure of the system for those who didn't read the advanced notice.

Far be it from me to make this sound like a pantomime but oh no it isn't!

I've been trying to log in for the past 15 minutes and keep getting 'there seems to be a problem, please contact us'.

I managed to log in yesterday (after numerous attempts with the new system - so I do understand it)and empty my accounts with them but I had a standing order go in yesterday that was not credited to the account. I want my money out - unfortunately for them I was not a big fan of their previous system and this shambles is the straw thats broken the camels back.

Well it might be for you. But I've read a lot of posts both here and elsewhere which say it most definitely isn't working for everybody (myself included).

I'm not sure what the advanced notice has to do with it. I read it, as I'm sure did many others. Hopefully the failure will only be short term, but it will still inconvenience a lot of customers.

Ummmm ... how do you know? Don't you think you're wildly guessing and talking about things and people you know nothing about?

I read the notice, I followed the procedures - and I can follow procedure better than most - and their system did not work correctly for whatever reason - eg my choice of computer / browser.

This is, in some cases at least, a failure by tesco to properly test their new IT systems before rollout.

Hi, I've been on hold for 45 mins now..
I'm reassured by this thread that the problems I have just had (starting the new security procedure, then being thrown off, and then unable to log in with my old details) are widespread, so there didn't seem much point in holding on the phone for longer.

    I'll try again later.

I'm surprised that the continued problems aren't widely reported. I tried googling while I was on hold and before I came here, and it was mostly talking about yesterdays problems and that they were now fixed.

I must have only been half bothered to understand the changes then. 1 old system account changed over ok, another old system account no access because it decided I need a temp pin half way through the registration, 1 new system account working fine. Access patchy, working fine this morning but not now. It would seem they are suffering the same as the Santander migration fiasco, many with no problems at all and the rest a total !!!! up.

It came back last evening and I was able to make a withdrawal, which worked. Now I can't login again using the new ID etc.

As soon as I can get in the lot is coming out. I was going to do that earlier in the year but they wrote saying they were extending the interest rate bonus for another year.

If they purport to be a proper bank they should not need anyone else to do their clearing anyway.

If their supermarkets were as bad as this Tesco would end up like Safeway.

I had not logged on recently so did not see the notice about this. I did not receive a blanket e-mail about it, which they should have done to all customers.

Poor IT project management, poor customer information, poor customer relations, no apparent sense of urgency, a mediocre website, no confidence in them any more.

Someone's head there should roll over this, but I bet it doesn't.

Does anybody have a view on this 'temporary PIN' business? Do we really need to contact them and get one (I'm not sure I can face a 45 minute wait!), or will it correct itself?

I guess the only people who would know would be those where it has corrected itself (assuming there are any).
