Tesco Online Banking Inaccessible

Tesco Bank's online banking facility is out of action, and I believe has been so since the weekend. It seems that it was supposed to be back this morning but the logging in process did not work and they appear to have had to take it down again. They are supposed to be upgrading the security arrangements. There is no indication given as far as I can see as to how long this will go on and the call centre delivers a 'We are working hard to resolve..' type message but with no commitment on timing. In my view this is not good enough, especially for a bank that has aspirations to being a major player. Anyone who needs to access their money urgently could be in difficulties. We mostly have to use internet banking to obtain any kind of interest rate and yet instant access does not always mean that in practice.

Sort it out, Tesco.

They are switching the whole banking operation from RBS to HSBC to-day. Nothing to do with security upgrade.

Yeah sort it out Tesco, their new website is !!!!!! I did a transaction this morning and it processed it TWICE! Called their customer service team this morning and they couldn't even get into the system. I am now waiting for them to call me back!

I will be withdrawing all my money from them, poor service and getting crappy website.

Was unable to access the website to make a transfer out of my Internet Saver to my linked current account, but phoned up Tesco telephone banking who could not access my accounts online due to their systems being down, but they took my instructions over the phone and said they would call me back today to confirm if the payments have been sent once they can access their customers accounts again.

Just had a phone call back from Tesco telephone banking (they did actually call me back!) to confirm 1 X 10K faster payment has been sent today and the rest they are sending out via Bacs transfer and should reach the receiving account by Wednesday.

Just checked and online banking is still down..........

edit: can now login to internet banking, can see they have sent the £10k via faster payment, although it has not landed in my linked HSBC account yet (payment sent 5.50pm). But no sign of the Bacs payment leaving my account that they phoned me up to confirm had been sent from my Internet Saver account...... so once again on hold to their telephone service to query this!

I thought they were running their own bank now, independent of others.

I shall be keeping less in there in future and finding an alternative in order to hedge against this shambles happening again.

It could be independent bank but run by a discount supermarket, its likely to be done on the cheap, you can tell by their new website, functionality is shocking bad, there is no facility to view detail transactions and feels very cheap, tacky put together. Login process is ridiculously labourious.

I'm nothing to do with Tesco (I work for a rival bank), but I know people who have been involved with the new IT systems at Tesco Bank, and believe me... their IT systems are certainly not done on the cheap. In fact Tesco bank has better IT systems than almost any other UK bank so I'm sure all will be fine when they have ironed out the problems.

Tesco haven't moved to HSBC systems (they are using HSBC as their clearing bank) and are now a full bank in their own right with their own systems. Remember that the online banking is just what the public see... many banks have a glitsy online service but ancient IT systems behind the scenes.

What a waste of time...filled in a range of details across 3 pages and then - NOTHING ...a blank screen. Good thing I moved out most of the money last week. This is most secure site ever...even I cannot get into my account...well done Tesco!!

Exactly the same for me, hence doing a search on MSE and finding this thread!

I wonder if our details actually got saved, or if we will have to go through it again later...

I don't have a problem with changing systems, but why can't they just put a webpage saying "Upgrade in process" or something like that rather than leave a half running site.

I think where Tesco have gone wrong is to tell everyone beforehand that today is migration day. So as a result their site is getting lots of additional traffic from customers who are eager to log into the new site and check their money is still there!

But then again, I'm one of the culprits as I didn't need to logon today, I was just being nosy!!!
