POACHED FISH
Serves 2
INGREDIENTS
2 x 250g of white fish
1 onion
250ml of milk
METHOD
Rinse the fish under cold water. Remove any excess water from the fish with some kitchen paper. Run your fingers along the fish and remove any remaining small bones with your thumb and forefinger or a pair of tweezers.
Peel the onion and chop it into tiny pieces.
Put the fish, milk and onion into a frying pan on a medium heat. Cook for 10 minutes until the fish is firm and opaque.
Remove the fish from the pan.
ADDITIONS AND ALTERNATIVES
Add a bay leaf. Remove it before serving.If you fold it in half, will an Audi A4 fit in a Citroen C5?

I use the same recipe, but cook mine for 4 or 5 mins in microwave and let stand for 2 or 3 mins.Slimming World at target0 -
I have managed to get a good deal on some undyed smoked haddock and was wondering if anyone had any nice recipes that didn't include a white sauce or lots of carbs ( so no fish pie or fishcakes, even though I love both).

I was going to say Kedgeree, but that's predominantly rice. However, you can make it with brown rice so that it has complex carbs instead of simple carbs?

my OH likes it poached in milk and served with lovely fresh brown bread and real butter. he thinks it doesn't need anything else on the plate! Though I am partial to green beans with it.0

We have it like this ^^^ just poached in milk with a knob of butter on the fish and then bread and butter to serve with it. I love it poached in a little milk. Than get a bag of ready washed spinach and cook in microwave. Top the cooked haddock with cooked spinach and then top with a little grated cheese and brown under the grill. You can also put a poached egg with it. healthy and low carb.0
