hi all
Can someone give me a nice low fat idea of what to do with this.
Im fairly new to cooking fish and Ive made a fish pie which was a triumph, but had it too often recently - and would like a change.
I have googled and all i can find is a soup which I dont fancy, pie, which Ive had too often and kedgeree which has eggs in which Oh cant have due to cholestrol probs.
Any other exciting ideas?

If you like the idea of kedgeree I make it without eggs and it's really quick.
Cook some rice with milk and just a bit of water to make it really creamy. Add some saffron/tumeric and a little garam masala or similar to give it a bit of bite. When the rice is cooked stir in the smoked haddock and heat until it's cooked. Dish up and squeeze some lemon juice over and maybe a little parsley if you fancy.
It's kind of like a fishy risotto but a lot simpler to make and low fat.New year, no debt! Debt free date - 02/01/07 :j :j :j0 -
well, this hasn't eggs in but it does have loads of butter so it's probably no good either - sorry
Cook your haddock, debone and flake. Mix with an equal quantity of soft butter (not marge). Refrigerate. Serve on top of baked spuds or hot toast. Or stir through hot pasta. Yummy scrummy:)

thrift lady- theres no WAY we can have that! Sounds nice tho, but alas there is no chance we are even going to consider that!
I actually think kedgeree sounds a bit gross. TBH i was quite pleased when I saw the eggs in it, thinking, Oh good we cant have that:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

Poach it in some (skimmed) milk, and then make a white sauce from the poaching milk. I then flake the fish into the sauce and serve with tagliatelli pasta.0

I'm not really sure, I just do it by eye. Slightly more milk than water or it doesn't go creamy but if you use too much milk it can boil over easily. Sorry that's not much help really is it.
Lynzpower: The other thing hubby loves is just to breadcrumb it and pop in the oven. He prefers this over cod. I guess the egg would still be too much though? Or we have just microwaved it and eaten au natural.
Do you like the idea of a fishy stew? I once made a Weight Watchers recipe that used smoked haddock, salmon and prawns which sounded horrid but was actually really nice. The book's at home but I can look it up tonight if you fancy?New year, no debt! Debt free date - 02/01/07 :j :j :j0 -

How about poaching or steaming your fish, serve on a base of spinach (poached egg on top or not)...0
