Scottish Power price rise! SHOCKED!

But surely you cant see prices for the 1st of August on Moneysupermarlket(or any comparison site), and those prices you quote are "todays" prices, which on August 1st will rise the same as your current tariff..
or am i missing something
The prices on the comparison sites already include the price announcements made.
If you switch today, it could be August by the time the switch actually occurs."Now to trolling as a concept. .... I know I'm being stuffed by SP and I'll use comparison sites to limit the damage.
But what gets my goat is the publicised 19% average increase. It's been too many decades since I last tangled with the various forms of average - mean, mode and median - but a fag-packet calculation reveals a 20% 'average' rise might result from 20% of customers suffering a 60% rise and 80% 'enjoying' a 10% rise.
I cannot imagine that as an Energy Saver 11 customer I represent one of only 20% of their customers - how the hell was 19% calculated - anyone have any insight into this?0 -
I'm on the Energy Saver 4 and my percentages work out as +27% for electricity and +30% for gas.0
-
I am on energy saver 4 and have no idea about the percentages but the figures are:
Electricity Tariff: WWW Domestic Single Rate Premier Plus (No Standing Charge)
Electricity prices
Current† First 225kWh used each quarter 16.920p
New† 21.924p
All/Day remaining kWh 10.110p 10.110p
Gas Tariff: WWW Premier Plus (No Standing Charge)
Gas prices
Current† First 670kWh used each quarter 5.211p
New† 6.444p
All/Day remaining kWh 3.705p 4.440pIf you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!0 -
so I am really confused now.
I compared prices on uswitch and they told me that energy capped prince energy june 13 was the cheapest package from all providers. I switched because I felt it was the best way to lock in and I can cancel within a few days
so I was sure the price comparison included all known information - now I am worried that they will come back in a month or so and scupper any savings.
There is a banner on my account page that says - "you may have seen that we have announced a price increase. Don't worry the deal you're on means your prices are unaffected"All CC & Other Debts - Paid Off :beer:

I received this email from Scottish Power 4 days ago, their bold not mine.Dear Mr X XXXXXXXX
You may have seen in the news recently that price rises have been making the headlines. Prices for many things, from food to petrol, have gone up - but we wanted to reassure you that your energy prices won't be increasing at this time.
As you chose our online Capped Price Energy Offer, you can relax, knowing that you made the right choice to protect your prices until 31st May 2013.
What's more, not only will your prices be protected, but if our prices fall below the capped rate, your prices will automatically fall too. So your deal is always working hard for you.0 -

As I posted in this thread

What tariff were you on?
e.g. OES14 was not affected by the latest price increases ... but it is a variable tariff so may change at some later date.
I would be very surprised that any capped/fixed rate was the cheapest if you include variable rate tariffs too, but the one mentioned may be the cheapest of the capped/fixed rates. With this tariff, you have the surety of knowing that the price will not rise above the cap over the term of the deal"Now to trolling as a concept. .... I'm on an Online Energy Saver 4 and have received the following price hikes:
Electricity prices:
First 225kWh used each quarter: 17.057p rising to 22.299p => 30.3% increase
All/Dayremaining kWh: 9.673p rising to 9.673p => 0% increase
Gas prices:
First 670kWh used each quarter: 4.720p rising to 5.829p => 23.5% increase
All/Day remaining kWh: 3.630p rising to 4.351p => 19.9% incrase
Just looked at uswitch and moving to npower would save me around £180/year. Currently paying around £980/year.
The only thing I'm concerned about is how guaranteed are the prices? If I move to npower, is there any guarantee they won't hike their prices in a few months and it just hasn't been announced yet?0 -

On uswitch, for me (midlands) npower SOL 22 was the cheapest. 2nd cheapest was npower Go fix 6 at £15 dearer per annum based on 3000kWh annual usage. I went with the Go fix 6 (fixed for 12 months)0
