  • Wow that's 100 sleeps off my original DFD already :D howtime flies when your jiggling your finances, it's really only been 20 since I started I think.:rotfl:

Well the postie has been and still no Tax Credit info, however he did bring the new bank cards for the Halifax Award account so forward movement there. Also signed in and saw the deposit from paypal to confirm the account had finally arrived so that's all sorted now. Went back to paypal to confirm and noticed the evil egg card was still attached to account so I've got that removed. And I think that's about it on a financial front for today.

Still not feeling good so going to potter/rest and try and get something done today. Can't take to my bed completely with three teenagers in the house, the thought of what faced me when I emerged would be enough to keep me bedridden forever

  • Well the postie has been once more and still no Tax credits but am now in possession of the PIN for my new bankcard.

Feeling a bit better today, not 100% but enough for painkillers to be effective today I hope. Got lots to do. Going to try and dodge the showers and get some washing dried.

Also going to try and fill my mind with thoughts other than money, there is nothing more I can do just now but sit and wait so no point fretting over what is out of my control.

Off to make lists for what I need to take next week, don't want any needless spending on things we forgot!:rotfl:

Glad you are on the mend finally!
I had a rubbish nights sleep last night and have been in an awful mood all day. My OH politely called me, "a bit crabby":rotfl:,thats understatement of the year!
I know what you mean about not spending every waking hour thinking about money. At the moment there's nothing else I can do, so to try and relax and have fun me and the OH are going to watch Transformers 3 tomorrow! Tomorrow I get my 'allowance', so I will use some of that and treat us to tix! Will take own popcorn and drink to save some cash. How MSE of me!
Hope you keep on getting better, especially with 3 teenagers! You can't afford to be at less than your best :D

Thanks Eyebright, though I'm not quite there yet, was flagging by end of afternoon but did manage to stay on my feet to cook tea tonight.

Am most puzzled by an odd payment of £19.17 that has gone into my new current account today. All it says is Bank Credit but not who it is from! Was wondering if it was maybe something to do with tax credits but then in my old account it always said who it was from. Well guess 'll just have to wait and see if it, if not I have no idea where it is from! Very mysterious:eek:

Have fun at the cinema, we very rarely go as it involves a 60+ mile round trip to go, so has to be something special as my hubby doesn't really like going, tightwad :D

  • Good morning, rather a disappointing post this morning, nothing for me, all for the kids! So running out of time before I go on my hols for my award notice to arrive, surely it must be here when I get back?

Logged back into the Halifax this morning to find that the odd 'bank credit' had indeed turned into a 'bank credit- child tax credit' so finally signs of something happening. I guess the first I'll find out what it is next Friday when my regular payment goes in.

Had a couple of no spend days with being poorly, which actually is rather good for me as I used to have huge potential for mischief when left with lots of time on the laptop :rotfl:And checked the fridge and we're on track for another one today as have everything in I need.

So today is major crack on, house straightening and camping organising. Hope my stamina lasts longer than yesterday.

  • AAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry just had to let that out. Just opened the email telling me British Gas are putting up their electric prices from the 18th August. I only just switched to them a couple of months ago as they were best deal and now the tarrif is going up by 2.4p a unit. That works out at an extra £384 a year for me in my all electric house! Wonder how long we can last before putting the heating on this winter.

Going to have to look at switching again maybe and paying the early cancellation penalty. Not a happy bunny.

  • Well despite the fact I wasn't meant to be fiddling about with money for hours again today it seems time has run away with me again!

I've switched back to a fixed rate with EDF which will give me a couple of hundred pounds saving so was worth the £30 exit fee from BG. Going to have to up my dd from £100 to £125 to safely cover things don't want any nasty surprises. But fortunately seemed to be enough jiggle room in my forecasts for it not to impact too badly. The £5 a month from Halifax acc and the £10 a month rent rise my daughter just offered to pay has all been nicely swallowed up, in one hand, out the other. :rotfl:

    Good morning diary,

A lovely day and today I really do need to knuckle down and get organised. Running out of procastination time!

Hubby has helped me focus by dragging all the camping gear into the LR so I can't forget about it :D He's out working all day, doesn't normally work on a Saturday, and the kids have all gone off for the day so the buck stops with me.

The postie has been, no award, but he did bring me the Hovel in the Hills I bought of ebay the other day so that's my reading sorted for my holiday.

And as a special treat I'm going to buy the Guardian today and save it to read on the way up the road tomorrow. Used to get it very week but added up how much it cost a year and seeing as I never found time to read it all couldn't justify it. But with a whole week of camping I should manage to get my money's worth out of it :rotfl:
