Gawd it didn't half make a mess! Is it new? Any chance you can get it replaced? Your bathroom is lovely! I agree a shower curtain probably wouldnt sit very well.

No we've had it 18 months so well out of warranty not that we would have got far with them anyway I don't think. Hubby phoned to let them know there had been a problem because we thought they should know in case others are hurt. But they tried to say it had been knocked which we know it hasn't. And they tried to say it wouldn't have hurt anyone, oh really? it took gouges out of all my units but wouldn't have broken any skin while propelling at great force across the room! I really think they should come with a warning!

It's so frustrating it took 23 years till I got my bathroom done and it took a year to do it as we could only afford bits at a time and had to wait for sales etc. I loved it how it was :(

  • On a brighter note, hubby got two letters today from CC companies, one to say seeing as you haven't used your card in years we're not renewing it and cancelling your accountunless you instruct otherwise. The other another unused card offering 0%. Was so lovely to think I had abslotely no need for either :j And I do appreciate my hubby's sensible approach to cards, don't use them!:D

I do, but its not very interesting:o:o
  • Well I'm getting a little fed up of signing into my Halifax account and finding non of the money I transferred over last week has reached my accounts yet. Surely a transfer made on the 22nd should be there by now, what do they do with it?

I'm seriously thinking of moving my current account over to them, I don't ever use an overdraft so the £1 a day charge doesn't bother me but the paying you £5 a month is quite appealing. As is the idea of seeing my money transfer straight to where it's going, think of all the days interest I'll be losing while it floats around in cyberspace!

Might actually get on with that today.

As for the shower screen hubby has spoken to the plumber who fitted it who assured him in all his years of fitting screens this has never happened before. He told hubby to tell me not to worry, chances of it happening again are highly unlikely and that I'm not allowed to even think about putting a shower curtain in my lovely bathroom. So am getting a new one, think i've found it £25 cheaper somewhere, just waiting to hear back.

As for paying for it, it just so happens there was a bit of slack in my plans that if nothing went wrong I would actually have been out of debt 10th of Oct, not November as my sig says. So I can pay for the screen and the dfd still stays the same :D

Right have a busy day ahead, was so shook up yesterday I couldn't concentrate on anything properly so going to 'fly' round my house this morning, got to go post an ebay sale and get that bank account move sorted.

Hubby has wangled a couple of days off (the joys of being your own boss) and is taking me camping tomorrow night, so also need to decide where I fancy going, near a pub with real ale I think :rotfl:

Great news at finding the shower screen £25 cheaper and having the spare cash to afford it without affecting your debt busting! Perfect example of being a MSE!

Have you decided yet where you are going? I love going camping, just pack up your stuff and go where you fancy. And it is so much cheaper! Last place me and OH went was Cheddar, that was lovely, and the gorge is stunning. Though it nearly killed me walking up it and along it! You think once you have walked up the 250+ steps to the top it would be a flat walk...Nope it keeps climbing once you are up there. I had to keep stopping and pretend to admire the view whilst I got my breath back! :rotfl:
  • Yes Eyebright, seeing as it's only one night don't want to go too far so had a look at ukcampsite.co.uk and found a nice sounding one on the edge of Dalby Forest. Clean toilets, free hot showers, right next to the forest so you don't have to pay to get in. And hopefully quiet midweek. Love it now the kids are old enough to leave home alone :j

I've applied for to transfer my bank account to the Halifax Award so will have to patiently wait for that to happen. Not a particular virtue of mine but if I'm going to live without credit cards it's a useful one to develop.

Talking of CC early on in my trying to form a plan to get rid of egg I applied for a new Virgin 0% card. Never heard a peep from them and presumed they had laughed me out the building, I was asking for basically my entire annual salary (only work part time) and already had as I previously posted around £16k 'empty credit' available. Was a message on answerphone this morning asking me to call them, so presumed it was to tell me I'm an idiot to my face. Not sure what they were calling for but I phoned back and asked to cancel the application, which a nice lady said she'd do then she phoned back a minute later and said sorry I can't it's already gone through! I had to be transferred to tell someone else I didn't want it, he tried to talk me into keeping it but I said no and he's cancelled it. No wonder folks get in a mess if it's that easy to get credit

  • Well I've checked accounts again and the payments made later in week turned up safely in my ISA. The original £88 I sent turned up safely back in the account it came from! And I've tried resending it.

Not too impressed that hubby and I have to go down to the Halifax with 2 forms of ID before they can proceed with current account opening, we have had a mortgage with them 21+ yrs, saved with them 24 yrs, opened an ISA online with no bother. But they need ID, rubbish  I just want to get away camping, not go into town! :D

Hey NA, hope you get safely away camping soon! look like the weather will be nice for you. It was Virgin that I have applied to. I applied online and at the end once everything had gone through it told me that I would hear their response from them within 7-10days. I think it might be day 10, though I might be confused as I probably shouldnt be counting weekends :(, so I will wait by the door for the post with the phone in my hand!
It is worrying how easily people can get credit, no wonder people get into financial pickles!
