139 sleeps to go.......
For any one who may be reading this yep that's another 30 sleeps knocked of yesterday
I forgot to include some actual savings instead of loan repayments that are going into the ISA so the point I hit DFD has lept back another month to the 9th November :j
I cannot believe what a difference actually concentrating on your money makes. I always thought we didn't have any! I dread to think what I've been doing with it over the years.
Checked Egg and the first £400 payment I made on Wednesday has reached the account, looks like might have to wait till Monday before the payment that clears it does. I hate money dissapearing into cyber like that with BACS, much prefer instant transfers!

Sorry SaverT, where you've been ever so good at sitting down and working it all out before you started, I appear to have been winging it!

138.....
Woke up this morning to a lovely £0.00 balance when I signed into Egg. So I have emailed them and requested they close the account. When I have paid this months interest whatever that will be then that card is finally done and dusted. Wish I could tell my sister
Anyhoo inspired by the lovely £0.00 I made a payment of £67.21 to my Halifax card and when it reaches it (pesky BACS) it too will be a lovely £0.00. And that will be the end of credit card debt forever.
:j
I'm not closing that one though as I know I do need one for when the only way to pay is with a credit card(as in the car hire hire company only takes CC on holiday type thing, not as in can't afford to buy any other way). But am not using it for day to day purchases.
Must go close my American Express too, haven't used it in years so it's silly for to keep it.
So from now on it's a case of diverting whatever I can to the ISA till the balance there reaches the amount needed to pay back the loan. Could be 138 sleeps, could be less, we'll see how it goes. It definately will not be more and on the 21st November I will celebrate my first wedding anniversay debt free (apart from mortgage). It's actually our 24th!
Will be a good feeling, I had topshop card when I got married so really haven't spent one day in the last 24 years debt free I don't think :embarasseLBM April 2011 £4906

Grr, Egg replied and said they have restricted the account and I have to wait till the statement on the 15th before I find out what interest there is then after 2 statements with a zero balance then it will be cancelled. So not quite free of the beast yet.
American Express was simpler, just cancelled it for me.LBM April 2011 £4906

Really want to do a SOA so I can set out a realistic longterm money management plan for next year but am waiting on the Tax Credits for this year before I work it out. Wish they would hurry up, if I've not heard by 1st July I think I'll try and give them a ring.
Long term goals set so far is to try and have enough money in c/ac before end of tax year to start the new one on monthly pay instead of weekly. Too many peaks and troughs through the month make it difficult to keep a proper eye on.
And thats my thought for the day:DLBM April 2011 £4906
