Much better sleep last night :)

Managed to get throught the weekend without adding to the card, really, really wanted to buy something last night but managed to resist. Off up to the garden centre later to buy some sunflower hearts for my feeders, so frustrating to pay their prices when I know it would be loads cheaper in long run to buy a sack but can't do that this week :(

Yesterday I had a brainwave and thought I'd trawl through my credit card statement and find what I'd spent the £3k on I'm trying to pay back. Then kind of view it as paying for that stuff as I go. Unfortunately I could only access a years records online so I've only been able to tot up £1546.32. Of which only £950 I'd have no regrets it being there, the rest is silly bits and bobs I sould have paid for as I went. But at least it can get me half way there if i concentrate on paying that off. It's a desperate bid to stop me feeling ill at the money I've thrown away in interest :(

9 more sleeps till I can make my first payment to start denting at the total, I want to get going now!

  • In one hand and out the other, noticed I could pay with paypal for the shelf and as I'd sold a couple of things at the weekend I only had to find £8.25 it. Was trying to save the paypal money and not spend but these things happen.

Oh no I just worked out I did the maths wrong and got my 'sleeps' wrong. Well I'm not changing my sleeps so the DFD will simply have to change. Just need to see if it's doable....

yay it is, back on track 223 sleeps to go :-)

Well I think today is going to be my first ever no spend day. Had to give the last £5 in my purse as change to someone who was paying hubby last night and he doesn't have a fiver to give me back yet. So going to empty my change in to the sealed pot seeing as tomorrow is pay day. I know I have all I need in for meals today so should be fine. I've remembered bagging up a load of change out of a whisky bottle and took all the silver to the bank to cash but got bored with the copper as it was so heavy with little return :o Going to dig it out and get it changed and pop it in the pot.

Had fun at whatsthecost this morning playing around with the savings calculator. Nice bit of incentive to keep going :rotfl:

Thank you, looking at your sig it appears your doing well at keeping your focus for so long. Look forward to seeing you reach your goal.

Thank you! I have moments of feeling really really fed up with the debt, but I'm sure we all have that.

I like your idea of counting down the sleeps until debt freedom but I'm too scared to work mine out! Will maybe look at it later!

Thats a shame you've had to dip into your paypal money for your shelf, but at least you don't have to "pay" for the whole amount if you have some money in paypal. I always try and leave my paypal money in there, but there's always something that comes along and I end up having to use it!

Good Luck with the first no spend day, I'm sure it will go great! I think I might start a running total of no spend days between now and debt freedom to see how many I can manage. Might be a nice comparison to see how many days I have left of being in debt vs how many are no spend days. Would be another little distraction if nothing else!
  • If I stay in the house all day and stay off the p.c I should manage a no spend easy :-) I spent years of being scared too look at my debt, now I'm concentrating on it it's not as scary, I just want this year over! The only thing I really, really want is a wee wood burning stove for my shed (cabin in garden) but I'm holding off till I can pay for it upfront. Would have been nice to get in in before winter but still plenty cold next feb!

    Hi NeedingAccountability,

Just wanted to say hello and goodluck.

I was having a quick read through some threads, spotted your's and really liked the title so started one of my own!

Keep it up, I'll be sure to check in once in a while

  • Well would you believe it the old saying 'look after the pennies and the pounds look after themselves' is actually true. I have after an afternoon/evening of counting pennies and tuppences the princely sum of £55 to take to the bank to cash in :j It's going to go straight back in my sealed pot to save for an anniversary treat in November. I can only comfortably carry £15 at once so may take a few trips to get it there.:D
