  • Well that's it, no more sleeps now till I go camping, tonight I'll be sleeping in my tent. Just checked the weather, at the moment looking like we'll have a dry pitch then heav rain forecast for Monday and Tuesday. What will be will be.

So that's it, all quiet on the money front, will be back in 8 or 9 sleeps :D

    Enjoy your time away :)
My hovel in the hills should arrive today - can't wait!!!
    Debt - CCV £3792
CCB £1383 (took a hit for a holiday)

    Loan 1 £1787
    Loan 2 £1683
    Total £8601 Was £39302
  • Back from my hols, had a wonderful time despite the flooding of Perth! Our tent stayed dry inside so all was well, but have a lot of soggy stuff to sort out now I'm home.

First job when I got home was to check post, tax credit award safely arrived and all well with my plans :D So next job was to transfer back to the ISA the £100 I needed to open the current account plus another £150. Making total in there £692.28, only another £2000 till I'm debt free:T
I've enjoyed my week offline and had time to think and realised I was wasting just a little too much time worrying about my £'s so I'm going to cut back a little and hopefully check in here about once a week or so. Kids break up end of this week and my internet access will be severly restricted till they return to school anyway. We'll see how it goes anyway, old habits are hard to break :rotfl:

  • Told you old habits die hard:rotfl:

I was thrown into a mild panic when my daughter brought home a letter from school yesterday regarding an Art trip to Barcelona next year, daughter number 2 who is on study leave at mo so not at school also commented she intended to go on the same trip!

Not having budgeted £700 for school trips it gave me a wee fright but I'm very happy to find when looking at my money program that it is perfectly doable, won't interfere with my dfd and won't upset anyone :j

My debt free date has shifted nearer actually than my number of sleeps and sig states but I'm keeping it at that in my head just in case life throws some more surprises, then I won't be too upset at missing the new one, just nicely surprised if I actually do it. Managed to cope with the £134 house insurance renewal I forgot about too yesterday, don't want to be spreading it in instalments and paying extra so very pleased about that, just as well my holiday came in under budget or that omission would have really annoyed me! Got it safely logged now for next year, don't think I've forgotten anything else!

Got my new shower screen ordered last night, found it didn't actually hurt too much to wait till I had the funds to pay for it rather than sticking it on a card. And will appreciate it all the more after having done with a taped up plastic sheet for weeks :D

Well done - you are doing fabulous - I'd have to rob a bank to be in your situ!

Thanks, I've only managed to wing it though because the final payments are after my debt free date, so I'll not be 'saving' that month but in the grand scheme of things that ain't so bad. At least not having to go into debt to pay for it.

Talking of banks, was wondering why after 3 weeks all direct debits were still coming out my old account, so phoned the Halifax to ask about status of the switch and they had no record of it! Not a good start  So won't be getting my free fiver any time soon as I still have to pay wages in to my old account till they get moved! Going to have to keep a very close eye on it, only have a £50 overdraft on my old account.

  • What is it with the Halifax? Not only do they not do my switch as requested at the end of June, now that I have phoned and got that sorted out the £1000 90 day free overdraft that was arranged to cover said switch has completely vanished from my account and the overdraft facility is now £0. Not that I have any intention of using it but that's not the point. Will have to phone them again tomorrow and find out what's going on! It was all meant to be 'simples' when I moved to them

  • Good morning, all is well now. I phoned the bank and had a chat with a lovely Irishman called Gareth who has sorted out the overdraft and apologised profusely for the complete mess up of my switch. A little £10 apology will be appearing in my account in 3-5 days :D

Hopefully all will go simply now.....

Daughter number 2 reckons if she ever goes to Barcelona she wants it to be hot so might be let off the hook there, all depends on which friends are going....

Really hope they decide against it as we have not had a complete family break this year due to the kids work commitments but it's looking hopeful we might all manage to get time off together during October half term, and that would be so much more doable without Barcelona. Not that I know where I am at the mo with money forecasts till this whole bank switch thing is sorted, it's really messed up my system

Obviously checking in here once a week ain't happening, going to aim for once a day :rotfl:

  • I'm sincerely hoping the £0.10 that has appeared in my Halifax account isn't the £10.00 they promised me yesterday, though given catalogue of mess ups so far I highly suspect it is :( Don't know if I can even be bothered to phone and sort that one out. Hope the actual running of the account goes smoother.

On the debt free front I'm really hoping I haven't messed up here but I've gone and booked a week in Edinburgh for October half term but I still don't know if kids have decided on Barcelona yet. Ho hum, it'll be tight and I could relax and go with my November 9th dfd but I really, really want to come in early, I do like a challenge!:rotfl:

What will be will be, it's still well in advance of what I had in mind when I first started this journey. I just want all my figures to be in the black, not red. Patience was never a virtue :D

Yay, the weekend! Getting the tent dried out finally after last weeks camping trip, a very kind campsite owner nearby has let us stick it up on his land to dry out.

Been trying to catch up on 'work', trouble with working from home is if your out of kilter in normal life then it's easy to put off. Last week has been all a muddle with dentists appointments, hopital visits (dying friend, so going to be out of kilter for weeks to come :( ) and laundry mountains from wet camping. Finally caught up though so that's good. All is well there.

Daughter 2 decided against Barcelona so that's good too, Edinburgh looks doable as far as I can figure. So, all in all, all is well.:T
