The plum one I did was this -
http://www.jamjarshop.com/makingjam/plummincemeat/
smelt and tasted amazing
I'll post instructions for the sage, cider and apple later when I dig the book out but the ingredients are-
1large onion 1.5 kg cooking apples 150 g granulated sugar 375 ml vintage cider 20 small sage leaves chopped
preheat oven to 150c/300f/gas2
heat a knob of butter with a splash of olive oil in a pan with the onion and cook gently till soft. add apples and cook for 5mins, stirring, and the sugar, sage, and cider and raise heat and boil for 10-15 mins till apple soft and some liquid evaporated. Lay a tea towel in roasting pan and put warm sterilised jars in, spacing apart, pour sauce in jars and just rest lids on top. Add water to tin to depth of about 2cm and bake in the oven for 20mins, then seal jars.
I use this as a quick easy sauce with pork chops, after frying chops add a splash of water to pan to loosen and add about 250g of the apple sauce with a couple tablespoons of creme fraiche, season and serve with the chops, yummy :-)LBM April 2011 £4906

Well not alot to report money wise. Worked out what was going on with the tax credits and it's my stupid fault I didn't realise earlier that the first payments I was getting bore no relationto how it would all work out when my final award was done. Ho hum that's what you get for living in a fog for years not noticing things :rotfl:
So basically no wriggle room in budget other than saving less and not sure I'm in that mindset at the moment.
I have altered our weekly menu to include more veggie meals and noticed a serious difference in this weks budget so far but we'll have to see how family react to it before I make it a longterm plan. Trying to sell the health benefits at the mo :rotfl:
Also wondering how long we can put off switching on the heating, in an all electric house it's a scary thought putting it back on this year the way the price has hiked:mad: That's it with my musings for today....LBM April 2011 £4906

i don't bother with tax credits for the reason that I don't really understand how they work and I've heard so many stories of them messing up. It really puts me off. Hope it doesn't affect your budget too muchGoals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2000

We haven't had the heating on yet bar to try it for 5 mins to make sure it still works that is.
On a morning it feels so cold and DD says she isn't getting up as it's too cold bless but then once she is up and dressed she is fine. After I have had my shower I am too hot once running around so def not time for me to be putting it on yet.
That's a shame about your tax credit hun. Let us know what you decide and how the veggie meals are going down.
Do you meal plan/shop accordingly?

I try to plan for the week and do the bulk of the shopping at once. I have 2 fridges so it is easier. I don't really specify what day is what on plan to allow for some 'feeling of freedom' and sometimes I just end up throwing the meat in the freezer cos by the time it comes to it I fancy something else altogether but it mostly works :rotfl:LBM April 2011 £4906
