  • I thought it odd i had never heard back from Noddle after registering interest and searched my email trash box today and found an invite to join. Which I did.

Was most shocked to see all my 22yr old DD's credit history on there, I must say she takes after her father not me and is very careful :D, but is she was in any trouble it would have been there for me to see. Some silly catalogue has listed her as an alias for me. So I need to work out how to disintangle her:eek:

Also noticed my £8000 limit Amercan Express Card which I requested to be cancelled months ago was still active, so have been on to them again to cancel.

Had had a horrible reminder of a £6000 loan from Egg to clear my creditcard back in 2004:eek: Why oh why did I not cut it up then
Hindsight would be wonderful if you could actually do sometthing with it :rotfl:

  • Morning, well yesterday didn't quite go as planned. I was really not firing on all cylinders after the bad news on Thursday night. So ended up just giving into the 'mood' as everything was 'too much effort' and curled up on my bed reading a book about death of all things. Actually it was rather comforting in a way, it is written by the same woman who wrote the Midwife books I read when poorly a few weeks ago. This one is based on her memories of nursing 'end of life' patients, and it has really made me appreciate the care my friend had in her last weeks. Though do feel a bit guilty for 'wasting' a day of life yesterday.:o

So today I have to get going whether I feel like it or not, no putting off the hoards descending this evening. It's a beautiful day and looks like the plans for a fire on the beach this evening will be o.k, always a worry what the weather will do when organising these things! Must be lovely living somewhere where you know your summer is pretty much guaranteed.

Talking of which not sure if I dare start looking at the forecast for next weeks camping trip :rotfl:

Won't get set of as early as we had planned on Friday as my friends funeral is scheduled for 10am, poor hubby has been asked to take it, he done her husbands a couple of years ago :( So by the time we're done with the after funeral nibbles etc can't see us getting away till late afternoon. I suppose as long as the tent is up and tea cooked before it gets dark I'll be happy. Will be ready to relax then!

  • Was trawling through my past Amazon orders looking for the code for my teapot so I could order a new filter when I realised it has every order I've ever done there.

So now I can pinpoint the start of my slippery slide into debt - Oct 1999 So looking at 12 years of one click orders  Peaking at 52 in the year following the death of my mother. The most annoying thing is I can see I bought my MS Money manager program way back in 2003 so why oh why have I not been using properly since then!

  • Morning, another Monday, how the weeks fly by, so why do the days seem like they are taking ages?:rotfl:

A lovely weekend, weather has been fantastic hope it's the same for next weekends camping! The beach fire was lovely and we went back down the beach last night and hubby caught 6 mackerel. So that's tea sorted for tonight, we'll be lighting the bbq :D

Off to York today to do the last bit of school shopping. I'm only planning on spending the cash assigned so hope I can stay strong in M&S and Waitrose (huge temptation) though there is a bit of housekeeping left in my purse which might stretch to a wee treat, we'll see. Probably should be saving my pennies for next weekend.

Catch up with you all later x

  • Was absolutely beautiful driving over the moors today, purple heather blooming as far as the eye could see, best time of the year for going shopping :D

Was not an entire success as could not find one pair of trousers my DD liked enough to wear to school. So unless any of the ones I ordered from next when I got home fit her she'll be going back to school in a skirt and hoping for a mild winter! I picked up a couple of things in the sales, a pair of capri trousers from Top Shop down to £10 from £38 (very chuffed at that as have been looking for some for months since I watched an old Audrey Hepburn movie :rotfl:) and a lovely dress that I fell in love with the minute I spotted it Laura Ashley, was delighted to find it reduced from £100 to £30 and in my size. It was one of those 'I know I'll regret it if I walk away' purchases and fortunately had the cash seeing as we had no trousers for DD :D

Saw lots of other lovely stuff but will have to hope they are in the sales, that's my clothes budget spent for a while. Though was a real treat not to be out the charity shop for a change.

    Better go update my sig.

  • Hurrah, finally got the trousers sorted for DD, one of the pairs from Next fitted so the rest can go back and I'll have to have a wee looky at the budget and figure out when I can pay seeing as I nicked the money to buy a frock yesterday :rotfl: Wish BG would hurry up and send my £105 back, would more than sort it!

Apples on the tree in the garden are starting to drop, DD made a lovely crumble with them last night, behaviour I intend to encourage. No sense letting the blackbirds get them all! I also made a lovely rhubarb sauce to go with the Mackerel caught on sunday that we BBQ'd last night, first time I've picked it since planted, feeling very self sufficient. :D

Also made some granola for the first time at the weekend, never going to buy it again, so much nicer (and cheaper) homemade.

Late lunch break over, better get back to work!

  • After much deliberation and forecasting I came to the conclusion I was being ridiculously tight with money for the sake of getting out of debt 2 days earlier. That is rather obsessive and much as it pains me I have now altered the DFD to the 4th of November instead of the 2nd. Stupid to be upset by 2 days

I could see it off there in the future dipping into the overdraft by £68 for 2 days and even though it's still free to use then a minus figure is a minus figure and it would have been a lie to say I was DF on the 2nd. I probably wouldn't be overdrawn actually, my £105 would have come back from BG and taken care of it but to be honest it would be really useful to have it for hols in October so for the greater good the decision has been made.

The saga of the school trousers continues, the ones chosen yesterday are going back after DD consulted with her sisters (ever so slightly too short, mothers know nothing about these things! :rotfl: ) and we are awaiting delivery of 2 more pairs today, everything is crossed! It's going to cost a fortune in postage at this rate

Well it's a lovely day so far, off to make the most of it before the rain returns :D

  • Ugh, it's a horrible rainy day and I'm still in bed at 9.44 nursing the last dregs of the cafetiere hubby brought up before he went to work. Had a bad night, my fybro has really flared up badly this week and I am in pain all over. Rather dreading getting up and getting on with the day, got all the camping gear to sort out and get ready for hubby to load into the van tonight so we can make a quick get away after the funeral tomorrow.

School trousers are finally all sorted but cost over £10 more than they should have done by the time I factor in all the postage :( Fortunately as they are on the Next account I can pay them off before the statement due day and no harm is done because of me spending the cash on a dress. If I had to pay for them this week it wouldn't be quite so happy a story :o

Kind of fell off the wagon over the last couple of days and slipped into my old habits. Well not totally as no use of a credit card was made and no real harm to budget done but I know what I'm doing and I really need to either factor into my budget to allow the behaviour or retrain my brain to stop behaving like that.

My sin? my DD got herself a lovely book, the vintage tea party, and it's full of recipes and pictures of food displayed on lovely vintage things. She was fascinated by the concept of coddled eggs and the book suggests you raid your grandparents cupboards for egg coddlers. Racked with guilt at the fact my DD has no grandparents with egg coddlers, well a lack of grandparents in general really, only one left, I did try to be very MSE and trawled round the charity shops in town and a car boot yesterday looking for the elusive egg coddler. In vain. and then came home and bidded like a crazy thing on egg coddlers on ebay. If I win all the auctions ( won 3 coddlers so far) I'll end up with 7 cos I lost count of what I was doing. Only need 5 for us, but will be able to give the other 2 away to another vintage loving friend who has chickens, she would love coddlers I'm sure :) And that's the end of my sorry tale. I just seem to get ideas in my head and need to act on them right away, and because it's 'little' amounts of money I have no defence yet to stop it. If it were more and I needed to use a CC to purchase then I think, hope I wouldn't do that now.

Need to work out a plan........

It hasn't reall taken me a half hour to write this, I have been up answering the phone and stuff :rotfl:

  • Hello diary, been a few days. Got back late Monday and felt like I spent all day yesterday sorting out the camping gear, but can't have as I didn't get out of bed till 11.30am :rotfl: Wonderful time was had but slightly overspent at the weekend, that's the trouble with going away as a group, trying to keep up with everyone. Where they are all couples we are 5 and costs us more than twice as much. So £36 coming out of current account that wasn't budgeted for. On a brighter note the refund from electric of £105 has turned up in my account today so things not as bad as they could be.

Only one more day and the kids are back at school. Hoping the Child Tax Credit get the new award for my DD staying on at school sorted out before my payment on the 9th or there will be major jiggling having to go on then. Shouldn't have to worry about that for youngest daughter as she has to stay on till 18 anyway.

Well better go get shopping for dinner, my usual menu planning doesn't seem to have occured this week :(
