Another rainy Monday, what a lovely summer we are having.:rotfl:Been to the hairdressers this morning and was feeling all smug that it was all budgeted for and was not having to 'rob peter to pay paul' anymore now that I'm keeping a tight control of things. Then I get home and find an email from new electric supplier who says they will take the first payment on the 26/8 and then start taking it on the 10th of the month as requested so I've got a payment to old supplier on the 10/8, new supplier 26/8 and 10/9 meaning an extra electric payment I hadn't budgeted for!
So back to the budget and if I pay the kids allowances a couple of days late in October (hopefully they won't notice!) and nick £59 money assigned to holiday spending back I can carry on without dropping into the overdraft. I don't know whats wrong with me, I have a £1000 completely free overdraft till the end of November due to account switching but even though it won't cost me a penny I can't seem to allow my figures to dip into the red. It's quite frustrating really :rotfl:
Need to do my menu planning for the week, will try extra hard with that one to try and claw back the £59 holiday money before I need it. It's still 11 weeks away so that should be perfectly doable I hope.
Hope no more little surprises on the way, ooh actually I've just remembered there should be some cash left in the old acount to transfer over, it might only be £23 I need to rob from holiday fundLBM April 2011 £4906

Good morning, signed into online banking this morning to find a random 'bank credit' of £38.67. No indication showing so far of where it has come from. I'm thinking either they have redone my tax credit award due to DD staying on at school, but then I thought that would be done later in the month as sign up day isn't till the 25th. Or it's something do do with my electric switch. No paper work on either scenario so will have to wait patiently till it all becomes clearer.
Nice surprise though
Have a good day.xLBM April 2011 £4906

Morning hun
Glad to see things are going well for you. Your DFD is fast approaching. I can't wait until I can work mine out to the exact date but as it's 3 years away yet and it's forever jumping around by a few months (all within Summer time tho).
I checked my credit rating yesterday and it was 999 which is the best you can get category of excellent - they matched me up with a card for 18 months 0% and although I was rejected for a diff one on Friday I was accepted on this one. A small limit but even so, less interest in long run. Turns out I had been rejected before tdue to high credit elsewhere.
Keep at it - I am counting down the days with you!

Thanks Debtfree 2012, the 84 sleeps is only till all the cc mess is sorted. I'm in for the long haul with you, the next 3 years saving for a £8000 + mortgage endowment shortfall. October 2014 (if I behave myself) is the final date for complete debt freedom when the mortgage is paid off. :j Though in today's economic climate it doesn't feel real trying to plan anything that far off, so going to try and save all I can now as you don't know what's ahead....
Back to the present, the surprise bit of money that appeared yesterday is today identifying itself as Child Tax Credit so presume new award is on it's way. Waiting to see what happens on Friday when the regular payment is due.
Horrible wet day today, really hope it's raining itself out and the summer picks up again!

Don't you just hate it, when someone comes along and throws a spanner in your budget works! You should see me when something like that happens, clenched fists, grinding teeth and a few choice swear words!
Camping sounds like fun! Me and OH are trying to figure out somewhere nice we can go for a long weekend. Running out of time until winter sets in and camping becomes grim.
Ahhhh I'm a looong way until I can even get a mortgage. For some reason this fact is really getting to me this week. I'm obviously thinking too much, feel like I'm wasting my life constantly looking forward to a date when I can have my own home and not enjoying what I do have at the moment. Hmm a cup of tea should set me right!0 -
Another lovely wet day, almost had a shower just going out into the garden to fill the bird feeders. They are unbelievably busy while it's wet  Run out of my usual blackbird food and I picked up a bag of National Trust food which said suitable for blackbirds for £1 in £land (surprisingly :rotfl:) The Blackbirds in my garden do not deem it suitable so bit of a waste of money. Will have to find some money to order their usual stuff.
DD14 has declared she is not going shopping for school uniform, she is a strange breed of girl who has always hated shopping, very cheap to keep reallySo as I am not that keen on dragging an unwilling child off for the day as not keen on shopping myself we are ordering it all online. Still works out cheaper for delivery than petrol we have so far to travel to civilisation. So the credit card is having a little excercise, the money set aside for uniforms is safely tucked away and card will be payed off in full. I just keep telling myself that as I have the money it isn't debt but it still feels wrong. I need to rewire my brain that to use a credit card responsibly isn't a sin.
The reason I'm not using the debit card is she wants to order a few sizes to try on and send the rest back and i'd rather not be without the money in my current account.
Looking forward to tomorrow, get to transfer another chunk over to pay off the loan, be back then with updates

Hey lovely to see you back, missed you :j
Never mind winter, campings looking grim at the moment
If it makes you feel any better we're only shared ownership so will only own half the house in 2014. Never did get around to buying any more during the 'foggy years' but the rent on the other half is so low I'd really suffer now if we were to try and buy the rest. Never really been that focused on 'owning' house I've done my family tree back to 1700's and we are the first generation to even own a bit of one :rotfl:LBM April 2011 £4906

In one hand and out the other.....
Remember the mysterious deposit of £36.87 from child tax credits the other day? Well signed into bank today to find that todays monthly payment from them is exactly £36.87 short! What is going on? I wish they would send out the paperwork in advance of any changes they are making. So once again my forecasts are all on hold until new award arrives and I find out for sure what's what.
On a brighter note I got a bill from BG saying I'm £105 in credit with them, so hoping for a nice wee chunk back from them when the switch is complete. Will have to pay an early exit fee out of it but should get around £70 back so that will be nice. No idea when though so leaving out of the budget for now.
And finally, transferred £400 to the ISA today so that means I'm very nearly half way to paying the loan back :j
Got a busy day ahead but will be back later to catch up on everyone else hopefully.

I totally know where you are coming from regarding using a CC isn't always a sin. I won't use mine anymore for purchases (cut up anyway) and the new one that I have is for balance transfer only and I will def not use for purchases. Regardless even if I wanted to I couldn't as the BT will max it out!

Who knows what the right thing to do is, my hubby is of the opinion all the banks will crash and no point in having any more money in them than necessary. (he has just this minute told me that little gem) I think I may have to restrict his news watching :rotfl:Interest rates arn't brilliant but they are better than the one you get under the mattress!:D
Well all the messing around with my child tax credits this week were absolutely nothing to do with a new award for DD staying on at school but another notice telling me last years award. It arrived this morning. Exactly the same as the one they already sent but with this weeks payment split up. Most bizarre. Might give them a ring again after results day next Thursday just to make sure they have her staying on in their system.LBM April 2011 £4906
