  • Got a terrible fright this morning opening a letter from ParkingEye with a lovely £50 fine (if I pay up quick) for going over time on my parking while shopping last week. Got in touch with the shopping centre and they are cancelling it and have told me how to get longer parking next time so very relieved. Been shopping there for years so was rather a shock  But the cameras have only been in a month to try and deter the local office workers pinching all the parking. Just another case of how the minority ruin things for the rest of us

  • Had a nice weekend, and now back to it, properly. Have not been really keeping up with my routines properly over the summer, due to a) kids being off school b)friend dying & c) thinking about money too much :rotfl:

So now the kids are back I'm trying to refocus, been flylady flying all morning, on a break at mo and nearly there at restoring a sense of order.

not going to worry too much about mone this week till Friday and see what the child tax credit people get up to now my daughter is back in 6th form. hoping they get their act together quickly don't really want to be borrowing money back out the ISA.

  • Thanks for popping by Debfree2012, this thread has a tendancy of mirroring my real life, me talking to myself alot :rotfl:

I haven't been totally good this week and succumbed to the amazon 1 click and bought Hugh Fearnly Whittythingys new Veg book. Like i need any more cookery books! But it's all paid for and no debt incurred so not totally bad either. Wish I could treat myself without feeling guilty. :(

CTC came through o.k today accounting for DD still being at school, well 'ish', I need the award to see what they are up to with their calculations as the payment is down £23 this month on what I was getting before DD was removed from award. Just got to be patient.

I've paid another £100 into ISA for loan, taking me over the half way mark on that :D Slowly but surely getting there. Also paid the balance of Octobers holiday this week. Really need to knuckle down and work out where the spending money for that is coming from! I've earned a few extra £'s this week by helping a friend out cleaning a couple of holiday cottages for her while she is away so I'm going to stick that in the holiday pot.

I've got a slight problem in that it has been a bumper year for apples on my tree and I need to do something with them to stop them going to waste. I want to make a load of apple sauce and jar it up as I use it alot making granola but I don't have enough jars as I was helping someone out with their plums and tomatoes last weekend. Got some lovely tomato & chilli jam made and plum mincemeat :D I'll have to investigate my freezer and try see if there is any room to freeze to sauce at a later date or try find some money in budget to buy some jars.

I'll be so glad when all this scrimping is over :(

Well that's it for now I think, enough with waffling :rotfl:

  • Monday morning, full of cold and head not working properly so probably not the best of days to open the new tax credit awards to find despite the fact my DD is staying on at school the payments for the rest of the year are going down by £58 every 4 weeks. Not good news for my budget but head hurts too much to get around it at the moment.

Ho hum, should have opened the letter before I blew £50 on jam jars this morning, I just kept going till I got free postage  Ugh old habits die hard, but it on the debit card not cc. Having said that I'm calling them an investment, next year all I'll need is new lids.

Got a bag of cooking apples for free yesterday so as soon as jars arrive I'll knock up a years supply of my lovely apple, sage & cider sauce.

And try and do something with all the eating apples :rotfl:

In true Scarlet O'Hara style - I can't think about my budget right now. If I do, I'll go crazy. I'll think about that tomorrow!
