I am existing customer of MBNA, I cleared the card I had with them about 18 months ago and never use it, it just sits in a drawer gathering dust really (it's a left over from card tarting). Just got a letter from MBNA offering me a 0% BT for the card until March 07 - 3% fee to a maximum of £75. The letter says I can either call up to do the transfer or use one of the enclosed cheques.

I definitely won't use the cheque (very wary of those little suckers) but I am wondering if there is catch? Why would they offer this to me when I haven't used the card for over a year? or have i just answered my own question? :D
  • Hey, as part of my turnround of existing credit card debts I have been performing the shuffle. Got a charity card with Bank of Scotland as in money tips with 0% for six months, but then needed to put some other balances on my existing cards.
Offers were as follows on 1st June 2006:
M&S were offering 9.9% annual _ no fee
Capital One 6.1% long term _ no fee
    but the winners were
MBNA with 0% for six months with a fee of £75
Note with the MBNA there would have been three charges of £75 to clear the three credit card balances until it was suggested to pay the amount into my bank account and me transfer from there so just the one charge.
Now to keep on driving the balances down over the next twelve months.
Thanks for the great site, Martin.

Just paid off 2nd 0% deal with MBNA mastercard. Called to see what deals were available and was told I could have another 6 months 0% with NO BT fee if I transfered to another credit card. :D. Money going straight to EGG money then to off set account

    Thanks MBNA :A

No joy with Lloyds TSB - offered only 7.9% for life or 4.9% for 6 months with a 2% fee (uncapped) (which makes it about 7.9 %APR as well). Staff were rather terse and rude and were perfectly happy to close my account - I think that calls are now handled by an agency , so this might explain the attitude.

Maybe bank attitudes are changing with interest rates rising and so many people stoozing these days.

I imagine I've asked this on here before, but has anyone had any joy out of Morgan Stanley?

Got a replacement Goldfish card in the post today as they are changing from Visa to Mastercard.
In the envelope was a letter offering 0% balance transfers for 6 months open until 30 june.
The enclosed T&Cs state that there is a 2% fee (uncapped) on BTs so I phoned to query this and was told that this offer had no fees.
I asked him to check this with a supervisor and he did so I now have another £10000 on its way to the stooze pot.

OH rang yesterday up to cancel his LloydsTSb Platinum card yesterday and was offered (when pushed) 0% BT for 6 months on his full credit limit (£15,000) and they would waive any fees.

Just paid off a lump sum off my MBNA card and had a phone call offering me another 7 months 0% with no fee. Option also appears when I log into the MBNA site online.
