The APR on my account at the moment is 24.9 and they said the best they could do for me was to reduce that to 22.9% but in order to get that I would need to pay a £25 fee. I'm assuming the reduction in rate would have been permanent. The lady on the other end didn't mention otherwise.

I'm in the process of trying to clear one of my other accounts and when I do that in the next couple of months, I am going to do a BT and clear the account and then not use it and see if they contact me. I'm not going to contact them again for a least a month I think.

Think it is worth clearing the balance and trying again. I managed to get 1.9% for 6 months and got the bt fee waivered today (though it took some serious threats to get this.)

I've thrown every spare penny at my balance this month and will do for the next two months, then my balance should be clear.

If I got 1.9 for 6 months that would be just fab.

Probably won't have anything new to add here for the next two months now!

  • I had a letter today from marbles putting my a.p.r up from 9.9 to 12.9
I phoned them up and threatened to transfer it all to my capital one
at 6.9.for bt (standard rate is 10.9%)
After being transfered to somebody who could do something positive
I was offered 7.9% on everything for life.
    Is this a reasonable result.

How did you do this? Was it just a case of asking, and does it apply if you haven't paid off your balance yet? thanks
