Hello - can you help, please?
How did you get this offer? Did you phone and ask or did they contact you?
When I've phoned to ask I've only been offered 5.9% with fee. I was wondering if it's because I asked them rather they offer me?
What do you think?
Thanks Maria0 -
Just had an appalling conversation with HSBC. I've had their card for 4 years, with a track record of regular payments (sometimes not clearing the balance - good for them), recently cleared the entire balance and so thought I would give them a call and ask them for existing customer balance transfer APRs: 15.9%!! and that's only for the first six months!! I haggled and haggled but they wouldn't offer anything lower. So I cancelled my card - I don't see any point in keeping it on as it's no good for spending (poor cash back), balance transfers or anything! Frankly, even the new customer offers they advertise on their website are poor. grrDebt Oct 2005: £32,692.94

My HSBC Online card (the one issued by HSBC finance, not the HSBC Visa card) recently came to the end of it's 6 months at 0%. Phoned them up to cancel, ended up accepting another 6 months at 1.9%. Cheers!Matched betting profit: ~ £30,000 since Jan 2005

It's only fraud if you get caught.
I don't offer advice by PM so please post your questions in the appropriate thread.0 -

I seem to always have 5.9% for 6 months with them. Everytime I clear the balance, they send me another letter ;-)0 -
well, I'm one mean haggler and I tried everything but they weren't interested. It was the visa card offered through the bank and not the online one, maybe that explains our different experiences? Anyway, their website has a customer feedback section and so I've written them a letter to describe the situation and explain my reasons for cancelling. I don't expect they'll do anything in response but it felt better to let someone there know!Debt Oct 2005: £32,692.94

I wonder if you will get any response, Tondella. Please post if you do.
I tried to get HSBC to offer me a decent balance transfer but all they would offer me is 15.9% for 6 months. What use is that when even on normal APR my other cards are lower than that rate.
Do they still do the online card?0 -
My partner just got a huge reduction in his APR for his HSBC card to 4.9% for 6 months. He had a large balance on it running for ages - purchases and cash - and mentioned he was going to pay it off.
He asked nicely how much their BT rate would be if he were to BT from another card after his balance was cleared.
They said they would give him the 4.9% rate for the entire balance outstanding without him moving anything. He was over the moon as it was totally unexpected. He's been with them many years and never asked for a rate reduction before.0 -
My Virgin 0% deal has just come to an end. I paid it off in plenty of time to avoid any mistakes. I rang Virgin (MNBA) today to cancel the card and they said I could have asked for a further 0% term and would I still be interested. :j
I was offered a further 6 months at 0% for a fee of £35, tried for no fee but no banana, looks like I did rather well. This site has saved me a fortune :money: ...it's also cost me a fortune!
