Are all these offers unsolicited or did you have to call the card provider and ask for a deal?

Has anyone had any success asking for a deal?

All four offers listed above were unsolicited.

Sometimes a call will produce an offer, but usually it won't.

  • Virgin Money with another offer until Dec 2014 at 0% and a 2% fee - the card is now about 3 years old and in that time my crazy large limit of £17,000 (I have a low income but good credit rating) has been almost constantly fully utilised with these offers - I'm mortgage free but a little cash light (10 years until pension starts) so I look at this (plus a bit elsewhere) as pretty cheap pseudo 'equity release' that should be easily repayable once pension cash flow kicks in. Many thanks Virgin.

  • Hello! I want find out some things if somebody will help me to understand. So one week ago I transfer from mine bank Lloyds account to my brother account 4k coz he wanna buy a car, but when he move back to our country he change a mind and wanna give back to me mine 4k so he write a check so I deposit check in mine account at monday (we done by check coz he didn't have card reader from another bank so we thought that will be good idea transfer money by old good metod) so at friday money come into mine account, but I got freeze on this money and all transactions when I went to bank they told me that need mine brother bank statment and his ID, when I told them that he NOT at UK and will not come here for long (coz he start new job at mine country) they told me that they cant remove freeze from mine account. So what will be anybody know? I hear from some people that after one month freeze will automaticly will remove. Sorry for mine english.
  • This should be a new thread, although I've heard this a few times now, basically banks are freezing accounts that either receive or sent foreign payments to certain countries. I did hear that Lloyds do this quite often as part of their money laundering procedures and basically you can't access your account until the bank writes to you, closes your account and sends you your funds. If your going to send money abroad one suggestion was to use HSBC which is more setup for international banking.
  • No mate everything was at UK mine brother have Natwest and I have a Lloyds account and he write a chek on mine name before he leave UK, coz he got good job at Germany, and bank ask me too many daft questions I explain them that I transfer from loyds always money to HSBC (coz HSBC card is ok to use at any ATM coz mine Lloyds is cash accaount and I can use it only at Lloyds ATM's) and they can see that money came from NatWest but they acting like proper stupid coz now 21 century a compiuter must show where money come from. I ask them if I will close account I will get this money they said no, so I must take back mine brother, and he cant leave a work coz he just start work at one company and he will get holidays amybe after 6 months only. I don't know what to do maybe ask to send his ID to me?
  • I have a Lloyds Bank Platinum Credit Card. When ever my balance is zero for a week or so I get an option on online Banking for a 0% balance transfer, minus the usual 3% fee.
