  • Barclaycard retenions have just offered 0% for 15 months for 2.5% fee, after the main number could only offer 6.9% for LOB. So its worth sticking to your guns if you want a 0% deal !!
  • Like Hyndlegs I've got onto barclaycard retentions, was honest about it and said I was after a 0% else was cancelling, she offered 0% till may 2012 @ 2.5% fee, as above.

    Nice and simple.

I just rang Nationwide as I have no balance on that card to see if they had any BT offers available. She looked and said they didn't, just the standard 19.9% rate(!) so I asked if I could close the card because I was looking for a better rate. And she closed it on the spot! Not even a transfer through to the retention people. I feel unwanted. Oh well, at 19.9% it's probably better to not risk carrying a balance!
  • I have just cleared my HSBC credit card and tried to do the credit card shuffle. Unfortunately, they informed me that they have just stopped all their Existing Customer Offers and were unable to even offer a balance transfer with no deal! I tried to barter with them but ended up cancelling my card!

I wish I had cleared a different card instead, oh well, you live and learn. :(

You might want to change HSBC to "Offered no deal when threatened to cancel" on your Credit Card Shuffle page.

Sent a message yesterday to close my Egg Card (not Egg Money).

Today I got a message back saying:
You might be interested to know that right now we have a brand new balance transfer offer on your Egg Card but only if you keep your account open.
This offer needs to be activated by us as it isn't yet available to you. Also it can only be triggered if your account remains up to date and within agreed terms and conditions.
If activated any balance transfers will be charged at 2.9%APR Typical Variable for up to seven months. There will be a 2.9% handling fee on each transfer made. You'll have 30 days to request your balance transfers from the point we start the offer for you.

I have had the card since 2001 and rarely spend on it (Originally very good for the anniversary 0& offers). £2k limit
