  • I got an MBNA AOL Mastercard in January 2002. Started off with 1.9% for 6 Months on Balance Transfers, then called again and got 1.9% for another six months.

I called Virgin to ask if they had any, originally said no, so I asked to close the card in that case, then they suddenly had two:

    1. 1.9% for 6 months, 5% fee OR
    2. 2.something (I forget the exact amount) for 12 months, 5% fee

I took the first option as my only other CC debt is with Halifax at 24.9%, so I will be better off after just 3 months, and I plan on having it paid off before the deadline of August this year.

They also, finally, reduced my standard APR from 34.9% to 24.9%. Not great, but a big improvement and a sign that they are beginning to see me as a good customer again.

  • Halifax.offered 9 months at 0% fee or 12.9% life of balance by retentions dept.
Took the 9 months and was reduced to a rate of 12.9% as well.
Card was the one most likely to be closed before this,Nationwide now in the relegation area!
I have a deep burning indifference
  • Balance transfer is a great way to save oneself from the huge interest rates. In fact, such high interest rates are the reason, why gets credit defaults and ruins the credit report. So, the best way for any person to to ensure that he/she is able to make pending payments on a credit card through the help of such balance transfers.
  • I have just been received an RBS Advanta Platinum card with 0% for both balance transfers and purchases until 1st july 2006.

Just been offered 0% BT for 9 mths on CapitalOne Platinum, 3% fee. Just rang up - they would not extend it to 12 mths, so not worth stoozing.
Keeping the card because they occasionally do good offers (eg 2% cashback on all spend in December 2010).

Capital One just wrote to me and offered 0% on BTs (2.9% fee) for 15 months before 6 April - very happy with that!
